Horrid Road Trip No Longer Pointless
First... the Good News. Canucks won the 1st couple periods. Scored 2 goals in the 1st period. Kept the lead until late(ish) 3rd. This was a fun game to watch. Until it wasn't.
It was the best start the Canucks have had on this road trip of falling behind early. Instead, Canucks score on their 1st shot of the game. Ohgren is a puck hound in the SoBeach end, Panthers think they've cleared the zone. Karlsson showed them they had not - passed back to Ohgren who whipped it into the net.
WOOOOOOOHGREN! First canucks shot... first canucks lead...of the roadtrip!

Later in the period, teams were playing 4-on-4 and Petey the sniper makes them pay. DPetey the sniper. Chytil with the primary assist in his 1st game of the season.
2-0 Canucks after 1. Good game.
2nd period Canucks led, kept the safest lead in hockey for the full 20. 2-0 Good Guys after 2.
Meanwhile, it looked like Petey was going on a breakaway - could mean a 3-zip lead. Can't let that happen, eh, refs?
Refs also 'assisted' on the 1st Panther goal... with missed calls rather than obvious interference.
The end of the 3rd period ended in the worst possible way - upchuking all over the ice. It was disgusting. Won't mention OT. Watch the recap if your masochism quota isn't yet full.
Something To Cheer About Column
Nucks got within 9 minutes of a Merri shutout or 12 seconds of winning a game on the road. That's pretty good.
For the 2nd consecutive game Merri posted a .923 SV%. Have we found our new #1?
However... upchuking was pretty nasty at the end.
Zeev gets no releeev.
Not his fault... Old Bessie was gassed. All game it seemed.
Oh well...

POST GAME CHATTER!
Winning a point on the road doesn't feel like enough...
The last two games are showing improvement. Close, one goal affairs.
I was punching the pillows for a while after the OT loss, but if we want to draft high this season, this is the time to lose.
If twe assume that the kids are learning and improving over this season, then the logical conclusion is that there will be fewer and fewer losses later on
Plus Demko will be back at some point.
We will accumulate enough losses now, to offset the wins that come later. This way we can still be near the bottom.
I'll rather lose now and finish the season on a high note, than the other way around.

Win or lose, remember to keep the vibes rolling!
I am keeping this feeling with me for the rest of the year.
