Losing Streak. 9 straight. And counting.
Nucks didn't score much. And shot even less.
First... some good news.
We're back in our winter home already!
Thanks for reading!
Canucks got down a couple goals early in the 1st as the Wings flapped their sticks that scared the Nucks D away from in front of Lanky and Lanky forgot what his position is normally tasked with.
However, the Nucks came back to score on the PP with a Petey shot.
But then the Winged PP scored their PP goal which resulted in some mathematical contortions as the scoreboard claimed it was wings 3-1 after 1.
As discouraging as the 1st period might have been, well... the Nucks 2nd period was in that place below discouraging and not above pathetic.
In 20 minutes of 'professional' hockey, the Canucks did not register a shot on goal. Still early on we were looking for positives and finding them - all in our own end.
The good news is that Detroit's only had 3 shots this period... the bad news is that's (checks calculator) 3 more than we have.

While MotoCity was credited with 13 shots and goal in the 2nd, Karlsson's shot(ish) thing gave us hope. But the league took it away.
On the sniff of a stinky silver lining, Nucks aren't the only team to not record a shot in the 2nd period. The Pens in game 1 of the 2016-17 SCF, didn't record a shot in the 2nd either. And still went on to win the Cup. So that's either a half a glass of faint hope or a very stretchy bit of foreshadowing. You pick.
In the 3rd, a period not generally enjoyed by the Canucks or their fans, the Canucks were Bronx-cheered as DeBrusk put a shot on net barely 6 minutes into the 3rd. Their 1st shot since the 1st period period of sloppy hockey.
Even better and I'm not making this up to make you feel better for your poor life choices as a Nucks fan. No, I'm not.
Rossi sets up Lekki not only for a shot on goal, but a shot into the net. Which in case we've forgotten, is a goal. A Canucks goal in the 3rd period of a NHL game!
While only down a few goals with some minutes of ineffective hockey remaining, you might wonder if Manny would go for the Footie. He did not.
Didn't need to as the Nucks got a late PP. For a minute.
Onto the power play? Onto the power play!
Off of the power play? Yeah.

Funniest Moment of the Game
- or would have been funny if the Nucks were leading 8-1 and Tankinen wasn't pulled into a ROG gravity well that only EP40 is familiar with. Easy shot to stop. Normally. Not when you slip and fall on the slippy ice.
And thus ends the most 'winnable' game on this home stand with a 5-2 loss to a team in the 10th year of their speedy rebuild.
Was this at least an entertaining game?
Next question.
But still hope springs... a bit.
GAME STATS

Zero shots in the 2nd. Something to work on?
HIGHLIGHTS
Shortie doing the play-by-play and Dave doing way too much reminiscing.
POST GAME CHATTER!
Is this the low point of the season? Probably not, but at least we can hope.
Win or lose, remember to keep the vibes rolling!
I am keeping this feeling with me for the rest of the year.

Also... in case the vibes are in need of re-vibrification...
