Good News... Kief Scores a Hattie In The Win! (all 3 count)
Bad news... lost another player...
Good news for #Canucks! Lead the league with the most players on the IR list with 8. Bad news: Lead the league with players on loan to the Faeries. No need to pad our lead, k?

33 seconds into this game, BC Faeries padded our IR stats - as D-Petey took a slapshot, or rather Brock took D-Petey's slapshot to the groin. Ouch! Had to be helped off the ice and didn't return. Greedy Faeries. Very greedy.
Junior just shattered boeser's nuts... that hurt to watch.

Worse, while the Nucks were wondering which one of them would be hit by friendly Faery fire, the Blues score 5-hole on Lanky who wasn't ready. Yet.
Doesn't matter. Even if we thought it might. Nucks get a PP and Connor McSherwood scores a greasy PP goal on an equally-not ready goalie.
1-1 after 1. Nucks still in the game despite, you know, down another player.
Unfortunately... Nucks PK gets Snugger'd in the 1st minute of the 2nd. 2-1 Blues.
Not to make a habit of it, but this Blues lead as well doesn't matter.
Mid-period, just when the Blues thought they controlled the game and the zone entry, M-Petey and O'Connor sprang Kief for a breakaway. Sherwood deked Beenington to score a backhand beauty.
2-2 after 2. Gutsy effort to still be in the game as the Nucks were outshot 11-4 in the period. Actually Blues had 7 shots before Sherwood had the Nucks 1st shot of the period.
Nucks start the 3rd on the PK and finish it without the bad thing happening.
And then as almost as the hockey gawds drew it up, Nucks break into the Blues zone, and R2 breaks his stick while shooting. Puck squirts back to Sherwood who shoots an invisible laser bar down past a stunned Beatenton.
KEIFER HOWE!!!! HATTIE!

THREEFER FOR KEIFER!!!!!!!!!!!! #Canucks

3-2 Nucks mid-3rd. Just as our faint hopes of escaping St. Louis with 2 points, Blues get a PP. And worse... the Blues PP goal was scored by our very own, Suter. Well... he was ours until the braintrust at Nucks Central Command let him slip away.
Suter comes back to haunt us. Gonne need one more from Keif.
-- Ripper
Know another recent Nucks player who had a hattie against the Blues? Yup, Suter.
Anyhow the game moves on. Faster and faster. Scary and scarier for the roster-challenged Nucks.
And suddenly the impossible happens. Kane scores!
Or does he? Blues protest about goalie interference and the refs make the crowd-friendly call - no goal. Because local reasons.
We don't care. Another chance at getting our 1st loser point of the season isn't so bad.
Looooooooooooser point!

OT
Here's the thing. Some astute hockey analyst commented on the sneaky Lanky strategy.
Blues are idjits.... they're falling into Lanky's trap. Or will in 5 minutes if NucksLuck holds... let me rephrase... #Canucks

And despite not getting a shot on goal, the leftover Canucks keep the OT plan intact. Get it to the shootout and let Lanky beat the Blues, one by one.
And he did.
SHOOTOUT
Lanky's time to shine #Canucks

In the 1st round Lanky stopped all the Blues shooters. Whinington stopped all the Nucks shooters, but one. No, it wasn't Kief, it was Jake DeBrusk with DeWinner!
WOOOOOO JAKE!!!!
Sorry jimmi, still no loooooser point.

DeGoooooaaaallllllll!!!!!!! Thanks Schenn! #Canucks

Man, this #Canucks team is resilient. It wasn't pretty but they pick up a 4-3 shootout win over St. Louis

OBSERVATIONS:
Another gutsy effort from the leftover Nucks roster and their farmhands.
Bit of a shame to give the loser point to a direct rival, but I'll take that win! Lankinen earning his keep in the Skills Competition, but that's one reason why he was signed.
-- Thursday
Standouts in the game:
Everyone! Great team effort. Even Kane (almost) got on the board and didn't take a stupid penalty.
And Kief is tied for the league lead in goals. Let that and his 10 million dollar contract sink in.
I think it's fair to say that Kiefer Sherwood is a heart and soul player for the #Canucks

What do Halloween decorations have in common with the #Canucks? Plenty of guts.

Yay we beat the Blues and the refs. Lankinen great 2/3 rds of a game. #Canucks
— DJTaxman77 (@hugheshart43.bsky.social) October 30, 2025 at 7:56 PM
The Faeries take and take and take. And the Nucks give and give and give.
It’s fantastic to see the “Next man up” attitude of the Vancouver #Canucks, even if their season seems to be defined by “Next man down”. 😬

#Canucks Stars vs Blues 1. Sherwood. His stick is magical 2. Lankinen. Shut the door during circus time 3. Myers. Experience shines in Hughes absence. Game Note: #5 Tom Willander 22 responsible minutes of playing kitty by the door.

Sherwood's face when Dan Murphy mentions that Lankinen is a perfect 7-for-7 in shootouts this season. #Canucks
