Good News... Kief Scores a Hattie In The Win! (only 2 count)
Bad news... lost a couple more players...
...Why is Hughes showing up as out for the game?
WHY IS HUGHES SHOWING UP AS OUT FOR THE GAME?!?
-- Thursday
BC Faeries called him onboard before the game started. Time for the team step up and play like a team.
And they did. Right out of the gate Nucks were taking it to the Oil. Not giving them time and space. Nucks were jumping on turnovers and intercepting passes. M-Petey picked off a pass and sends it up to Kane, who pulled a nice move and put a pass over to Brock who beat Pickturd 5-hole.
Nucks lead 1-0 after 1.
In the 2nd, Nucks get on an early PP... and there might have been questions.
Okay, let's see what a power play without Huggie looks like.
-- Thursday
Looked pretty good as Petey blasts a laser past Pickarf. Nucks lead 2-0 early 2nd. No, really.
And Nucks kept pushing. Especially the Buzzsaw duo of Sherwood and O'Connor. Fast and furious. They break into the Oil zone and Sherwood shoots and scores. 3-0 Nucks.
Unfortunately... it was called back for the offside on Myers, even tho Myers was on his right side, he was too advanced to be the trailer. Dang!
Of course can't stop the crysaddle in every game. He gets his 6th goal in 10 games... So greedy. 2-1 Nucks.
Until... the buzzsaw line gets their buzz on again. D-Petey passes to Brock who passes to Sherwood who buzzes and dekes the stunned Oil D and pots his 2nd goal on Pickonard.
3-1 Nucks after 2. I know, it's the safest lead in hockey. Until it isn't. Especially when you're down a D call up as Mancini was hurt in the 2nd and didn't return.
Early 3rd, new Oily forward, Roslovic, allegedly a summer Nucks option, scored with a wicked shot. 3-2 Nucks.
Nucks are keeping the Oil at bay. D-Petey crushed crysaddle and EP40 was playing hard on McD. Maybe we win in the reg. Maybe. Or maybe not.
Late in the period, M-Petey gets called for breaking an obviously defective stick used by Maggiepannie. And the Oil score on their PP and we're tied. Tied up in knots with 3 knots a piece.
We don't care. Getting our 1st loser point of the season isn't so bad.
OT
Nucks want more than a single miserable point.
Since the Nucks D is too tired skate anymore, Footey goes all offensive with 3 forwards.
Sherwood is playing defense, Gnarly and Bess are going forward, but Sherwood is suddenly at the net tipping the puck past Pickerfart for the hattie!
#Canucks I can not believe Sherwood’s OT goal. 3 forwards, Sherwood playing point, then on same shift Sherwood tips in from front of net. Really!! It happened.

WOOOOOOOO! #Canucks almost get their 1st loser point of the season... but Kief wants more! And so do we!

OBSERVATIONS:
Most anticipated Nucks stat:
All three Petterssons have a point tonight, but still waiting for it to happen on the same play.
-- Thursday
Standouts in the game:
Everyone! Great team effort. Even Kane got on the board, the scoreboard.
Winning hockey is a team game after all. Even if Myers got over-played and was targeted for chaos by Oiled forwards all game.
So impressed with the #Canucks, tonight. They absolutely exceeded my (admittedly depressive) expectations! 😃

#Canucks Stars vs Oilers 1. Keifer Sherwood wow. Non stop excitement thru all 4 periods 2. Boeser. I think he fed off the first stars blazing energy. 3. Hronek. 28 minutes. Plus numbers against 97 and 27.

#Canucks Elias Pettersson stats from the back-to-back this weekend: 2 Goals 2 Assists 6 Shots On Goal On Ice For 4 Goals For, 0 Against 21:05 Average TOI 6 Blocked Shots Kept Suzuki & McDavid Off The Scoresheet In A Matchup Role Rough weekend for the "He doesn't care" crowd

Also... the Nucks defeated the most entitled Cup contender without a full roster.
#Canucks players currently injured: Quinn Hughes, Victor Mancini, Teddy Blueger, Nils Höglander, Derek Forbort, Filip Chytil and Jonathan Lekkerimäki

FAERY NOTICE: Let's stop now BC Faeries. Your appetite for Orca hockey flesh is unmatched. But we still have 70+ matches to play. Go south and feast on Kraken, Sharks, Kings and Knights, ok?
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Great to watch this win... but it's the slimy oil homers on colour... so...
Finally get some Shortie and Dave OT time FTW!
GAME STATS

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Sherwood scores 3 times including the game winner.
Petey happier with his points tonight than last night.
Footey playing 3D chess it OT... or his D-pleted defenders were too tired for OT.
Wow! Hard fought game, Nucks reward the ROG fans (and those of us outside the ROG) with a badly needed win. Your Vancouver Canucks are now proudly a 500 team! How fair and balanced is that.
But we all want more. And could get more from the ragged Rags on Tuesday when JT and his new (old) team are in the ROG.
Enjoy a better Monday than we could hope for.
