Not me. However, I do believe my pessimism realism in the preview contributed to the reverse psych. Or something. Not to mention, no Filip and iron-man streak over, no Gnarland.
Doesn't matter. Nucks score...
Uncertain if this was only the 2nd or 3rd time this season the Nucks scored 6 goals. Hasn't been too long. The 2nd time was last Saturday.
NUCKS DEFEAT THE (FORMERLY) BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE!
1ST
Nucks get the 1st goal of the game. No really.
Nucks break out of their own zone and score the goal on the rush. Not making it up. Teddy and Drewy and Huggie break up ice. Teddy to Huggie, Huggie to Drewy and Hellbuckie falls over trying to get over to stop the hard shot.
1-0 Nucks. And stays that way. For nearly 10 minutes.
But then the Jets get one past Lanky.
Doesn't matter. Because Nucks get the 1st PP of the game and even better (as we'll see later), get the only PP goal of the game.
It's a beauty. Huggie shoots one and Brock tips it into the net to break his 12 game goal drought.
MG BESSIE SCORED! PP goal. Payback for that dirty play.

A minute and change later, Petey and Brock setup Hoagie for a sneaky net front GWG.
And now hoagie on a beauty tic tac toe!! 3-1 canucks.

3-1 Nucks after 1 and the game is won. Pretty much. The GWG reference is a strong hint.
2ND
As expected the Jets turn up the pressure and after so much pressure and scramble in front/around/behind Lanky.
Tensions build in NucksNation's gullet or deeper in their gastrointestinal passages as it looks like the Jets have the momentum, the chances, the shots. But, they don't have Lanky. Instead they have the guy who lost to Canada a few weeks ago.
And sure enough Nucks put 2 goals past him in just 43 seconds. First Brock puts one between the Buckie pads.

We knew he was streaky, but this is just silly.
Then Suter the Shooter puts the puck past Buckie from a great setup from Jake and Kief.
WHAT THE WHAT!

5-2 Nucks late 2nd and Nucks do the thing they were hoping to avoid.... take a penalty. No worries, Winterpeg only has the best PP in the league. Nucks are killing it off pretty well... and then bad Nucks luck strikes as Teddy clears the puck out of the zone.... and over the player's bench and over the glass.
Doesn't matter. No, really, Nucks kill off the 5-on-3 and finish killing the Teddy's lucky glass in the 3rd.
Nucks lead 5-2 after 2 with the other safest lead in hockey.
3RD
ROG is rocking, and many of us were rocking in our socks as we know any lead the Nucks take into the 3rd is very safe.
And yet, while the Jets are getting fired up and firing shots, Lanky is the better goalie and the Nucks, believe it or not - keep the puck in Winterpeg's ice at crucial moments as the period, the game wound down.
Lankinen has earned his keep tonight, but what's going on with the rest of the team? They're going kinda nuts! I frikkin' love it!

As is tradition in the NHL when trailing by 3 in the last minutes of the game, Jets pull Buckie and attack 6-on-5.
As is another tradition in the ROG recently, when a net is empty, it attracts pucks.
We were hoping Brock would get the hattie, but got an icing instead. Then the another chance and Suter makes no mistake for his 20th goal of the season and highest total of his career. His agent was probably shouting louder than anyone in the ROG.
Shooter closes it out. Such steady scoring in his career, breaking out this one!

Nucks defeat the best team in the West 6-2. No, really.
Eh, Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks. What's the diff?

Before this game and after the terrible performance against that no-name team, many of us were hoping for a close game and loss with dignity.
Instead we got the '23-'24 Nucks high scoring, tight defending, 3rd period closeout specialists. Maybe it was one night only, but the best, most complete Nucks game of the season. So far.
OBSERVATIONS
EP40 kept his point streak going. And best of all, Streaky Brock is back. 3 points night! 2 goals and an apple. Hoagie is rewarded with the GWG, an assist and was part of the best forward line of the Nucks.
And Huggie was his usual elite skating, thinking self and picked up a couple points to assist his rise to the top all-time Nucking scoring D-men.
The sky is clearing some space over the ROG for rainbows, kittens and possibly more puppies.

It is the biggest of the season as the ROGstand is over and now the 6 game road tour to the eastern provinces begins. We know they have the ability to beat any team. Just need the ability to do it in the next 14 games. Not saying they need a 14 game W-streak, but a dozen wins could help them play Winterpeg in May.
