NUCKS SCORE 3 GOALS IN THE FINAL 58 MINUTES! ADD EN TOO!
Nucks are out of the playoffs. However, with this win Nucks claim the Avs spot in the 2nd season.
Some say it isn't actually a new league rule. Doesn't matter. We're in a new era where rules can be changed on the whim of a megalomaniac or an obscure hockey blog. Welcome to Dystopia On Ice.
Before we get to the new Nucks post-season schedule, let's go over this game - which the Nucks won and claimed a great playoff spot.
Because the Nucks have nothing to play for, they can finally play for each other. And their coach. And possibly their fans.
Nucks out-worked the slacker Avs who deserved to give up their playoff position.
1ST
Nucks worked harder and were rewarded with not one, two power plays.
Seemed it wasn't the great reward we were hoping for.
C'mon, guys - the power play woke up last game, so keep that up--Thursday
Nucks get caught letting some trailers test Lanky, but it doesn't matter. As the Nucks preserve the tie.
0-0 after 1.
2ND
Nucks look like they want the win more than the Avs. Perhaps no one told the Colo players the new rule that put their 2nd season in jeopardy.
Early in the period, Kiefer and Jake break into the Avs zone and Kief puts the puck into the painted area and Jake joists it past Blackenwoody. 1-0 Nucks.
WOOOO! Jake!
--Twitch
Nucks aren't content with commanding single goal lead after what they know can happen in a single minute.
The new best 3rd line in Nucks hockey gets back to work. Working the puck up ice on another rush. Carrying the puck into the zone. Josh is doing the heavy lifting and nifty passing. Sherwood performs a deft backhand to forehand maneuver and scores the GWG past Blackwood.
Wood vs Wood
Our Wood is better!
--Thursday
The Nucks have won the game. We didn't know just yet as the Avs score late to make us doubt the commanding Nucking lead.
Bah! Random rest period for the Avs on the icing leads to a goal going the other way.
--Thursday
Doesn't matter. Nucks lead 2-1 after 2. And the Avs season is almost ruined.
3RD
With Avs possibly aware of our capricious rule change, they put some pressure on the Nucks and Lanky specifically. Again and again, near-Blankinen preserves his penultimate shutout.
And to ensure the already assured Nucking victory, Nucks score again. Off an O-zone FO win from Räty, M-Petey puts a puck on net and Josh spins off his check to get to the rebound first and score.

Before we get to the next game winning goal... you need 2 game winning goals to qualify for knocking the other team out of their playoff spot. I know, complicated, but most NHL rules don't make sense.
Anyhow, before we get to that, Jr or D-Petey gets into a tussle in front of Lanky. The Avs tough guy seems like he wants to fight. Junior obliges. With his 1st hockey fight. Not NHL fight, 1st hockey fight ever.
D-PETEY first NHL fight against Logan O'Connor. That was a hell if a tilt babe. This kid is never goi g back to Abby again. 🥊 #Canucks #GoCanucksGo #NHL

After tacky hair-pulling from Avs O'connor, both players get some rest 'n relaxation in the bin of sin.
While the Avs think they can get back in the game, Nucks have the Avs back on their heels, looking at the bench and wondering when the refs will call a penalty and give them the 6-on-4 EN power play they so obviously don't deserve.
Doesn't matter. Because the Nucks PK has been great all game and looking for an EN hero.
HOGGGGGGY with the louie!!!

Nucks down the Avs 4-1 and take their spot as the 3rd team in the Central division playoff position. Sure, you might say it doesn't make sense, but what does these days?
And thus Nucks complete their final road trip of the season undefeated. If they can keep this record through the playoffs we just rigged, like their chances.
If Lank ain’t the top star then….
The goalpost is

OBSERVATIONS
We have a new best 3rd line. Yay!
Sherwood is one goal away from Taco's ka-ching level.
D-Petey is showing he isn't afraid of anyone or anything in the NHL. Hope JR/PA don't trade him at the draft for a mediocre forward. We've been overstocked on those.
The sky is pouring again...
D-Petey's toughness is s reminiscent of a young Mattias Ohlund. Just great to see developing. #canucks

This team looks very different without EP40. He just does not have the same drive and determination as this group that is playing now. I dont care how many times he tells us otherwise. #Canucks

They should just tell the #Canucks they are eliminated from the playoffs in November.

Always remember to hug your goalie, even if — especially if — you're also a goalie. #Canucks

Analogy Corner
Vancouver/Colorado #Canucks Stars 1. Sherwood skating like the wind 2. Joshua string solid play 3. Lankinen playing within himself. Game Note: EP25 is showing some Matthias Ohlund snarl!

Any other Canucks fans think that Elias Pettersson may end up being better than Elias Pettersson? #Canucks

Anything else? Yes!
WOOOOOOOO! We beat the AVS! That means we get their playoff spot. New league rule.

There. If it wasn't true, it couldn't be posted in a game thread.

Kief playing his game. Really well. Ignore the lie about him pitching a no-hitter.
Josh finishing strong.
Taco liked the 2nd period. Probably liked the 3rd as well.
Woooo! Stealing a win and a playoff slot on the road!
Nucks head home to play even better and steal a couple more playoff slots. Why not?
Fine. Have doubts about this late season rule change. Let's put it to the NM Bored of Directors.
