The Nucks had a chance with this game to cling to 25th. Instead they decided to...
Game Recap title "Fuck Calgary"

However, the Nucks can't even f-over a desperate wild card team. Gave the Flames a loser point.
With the win the Nucks slip up to 24th. That's just great!
On game 79 the Nucks have reached the lofty ledge of 79 points. We brag about point-a-game players, guess we can brag about this amazing point-a-game team.
But still... a win over semi-arch rival Cowtown is a good thing.
How did the fLames let this happen.
The Lames aren't even trying. Do they want their coach fired ?

They took a page out of the successful Nucking playbook. Start slowly then build to a comeback in the final 20 minutes.
Nucks get the 1st goal of the game - on a seeing-eye wrister from Cole McWard. His 1st NHL Goal! In only his 2nd game.
Wardy was super patient and threaded the needle....a play you'd expect from a vet not a kid

Nucks extended the lead on a... stop me if you've heard this before... on the PK with JT setting up Pete for the breakaway and wicked shot past Marky. The world's worst PK is also all-world in short handed goals for. We won't mention how the Nucks PP is setting records for shorties against.
Shorty calls Petey's shorty !

It's 2-0 Nucks after 1 in the Fan Appreciation ROG game. Final home game of the season.
I got the entire thread to myself...woohoo !

The 2nd period settled nothing, except the Nucks still had a 2 goal lead.
Sometimes I find it weird when I see Canuck defenseman actually defending

But sometimes, isn't all the time. In the 3rd, after Sutter gave his team the hurry-up in slomo, the ice tilted down towards the Nucks end. Despite bubbly Demmers keeping the SO hope alive, the fLames managed to get a couple pucks past Demmers - as the Nucks resumed normal procedure and stopped defending.
Nucks were lucky to keep a lead through 40 - if Deals had been in goal this would have been a much different outcome.
But he wasn't. And it didn't.
Amazingly the Nucks put as many pucks on Marky in OT as they had in the 3rd. 4 shots. And yet... neither team scored.
Skillz section of the extended edition began. Kuz as Vancouver's 1st shooter. The same Kuz that played 39 seconds in the 3rd, because of not obeying Tocco's defense-first directive. However, without the need to defend along the boards, Kuz deked Marky out of his poke-check to score.
Turns out, that was the only goal the Nucks needed to win, as Demmers stopped all the highfalutin Cowpokes. Does this mean that Kuz - who barely played all game, getting stampled to Tocco's bench-house, was the hero of the game, scoring the GWG? We don't know.
What we know is that the Nucks 6% chance at Bedardian happiness dropped to 5% in a single game. Is that such a big deal? Maybe, but probably not. There's no position the Nucks could finish in with a 100% chance of picking first. Even if there was, the league would retroactively make the threshold 110%.
No, the important takeaway from this game, wasn't on the ice. It was above it.
The last ROG home game for the 2 Johns. Cheech's last (ketchup) colour commentary night.
HNIC did put Cheech and Shortie on After Hours. Finally. After 20 years.
Thanks, Cheech, for sharing your good cheer and gourmet condiment tips with us over the past 20 years. You've helped make this terrible Nucking decade a little more fun. You will be missed.

FINAL ROG PRESSERS
The last home game of this very long and twisted season, you'd expect to hear from many players.
Nucking PR Dept says no - talk to the rookie.
McWard gets his 1st NHL goal and scrum - kid already has some presser clichés already.
There it is. Final ROG game. Final ROG win. Final Nucks win?
We hope so. It's one thing to still have a chance at Bedard. Jump past bottom 11 and no chance is the chance.
Who am I kidding? There's no chance the Nucks are getting CB.
With that depressing false hope crushed, we can move on to the next great cap hope. Clearing Myers and OEL off the books and the ice.
Is it possible? Let's find out.
