NUCKS SCORE 3 GOALS IN THE FINAL MINUTE TO TIE! WOW!
Maybe Nucks are out of the playoffs. Maybe. And it sure looked certain after 2 periods.
Down 3-0 in the 3rd and down 5-2 with a minute left in the game, Nucks score 3 goals to tie! Then win it in OT. Biggest Nucking comeback ever? Sure, and not just for the Canucks.
Nucks became the 1st team in NHL history to win after trailing by 3 goals in the final minute of regulation.
This last minute heroic outburst makes up for their late 3rd collapse to Seatown last December, which was #3 on the record list until tonight.
Nucks have set the NHL comeback bar very high.
No NHL team can ever ever again give up when done by 3 goals with a minute left. Hahahah they’re all going to have to hustle all the time now. We’ve changed the game forever!!! (Feeling a little high on my boys tonight) #Canucks #3in1 #AhAhAhAhStayinAlive 💚💙🏒🎉

1ST
As expected, blah, blah, blah... Nucks got outplayed, out-power-played in the 1st.
Sherwood gets a slashing penalty for no apparent reason... being near the star, I guess?
Raantanen scores on the phantom penalty PP. Refs 1, Canucks 0.--Twitch
Then the Nucks take a proper penalty and again Stars PP makes them pay the full price.
Stars back to the pp...this one real.
--Twitch
Freakin' score in the last second of it too. Our PK % is taking a hit.
-- jimmi
Why not take the last bit of dignity and pride this team had?
--Twitch
Not looking good down 2-0 after 1.
But it's the Canucks, so it can always get worse.
2ND
And does.
For the 3rd freaking time, Nucks PK gives up a goal.
Another stars pp...
...annnnnd another pp goal. Buhbye season.
--Twitch
3-0 Stars after 2.
Looking bleak for the Nucks, although they get to start the 3rd on their own PP. Which begins the most amazing comeback in Nucking history. But we didn't know that yet.
3RD
Nucks PP has less than 30 seconds to get a goal. Haven't got a puck past DeSmith in 40 minutes.
And we're not real confident.
Somehow casey desmith is a superstar goalie now.
-- Twitch
However, on the rush, DeBrusk scores DeGoal on DeSmith! Wooo!
Although getting just a single symbolic goal isn't going to shake off a season of the shakes.
Wooo debrusk ends the shutout... and nobody cares.
-- Twitch
Nucks down 3-1 and things get more interesting. Blueger takes a high stick and...
4 minute pp... blueger bleeding for the team.
-- Twitch
Into the 3rd minute of the PP, Mancini scores his 1st goal as a Canuck!
3-2 Stars. Nucks are 1 goal away from the tie!
However, with less than 3 minutes to go, Stars score to make it 4-2. Ugh.
There it is. Season done. Kings of mid.
--Twitch
That's the game, the season. Sure, Taco will pull Demmers for the 6-on-5, but Stars will get the EN.
And do.
Final minute of the game and Nucks are down 5-2. No one, no team scores 3 goals in the last minute. Especially this depleted Nucks team. Except... no one told Räty or Suter, specifically.
Nucks keep pressing, M-Petey passes to Aatu who blasts DePuck past DeSmith with 59.1 seconds left in the game.
Can't type enough words in a single minute to capture the stunning Nucks outburst. Let's watch instead.
That was unreal
And god bless Garland and Suter
-- Zanstorm
OT
More amazing, Ronnie wins the draw in OT, because Räty was kicked out.
Nucks not only keep possession, but get a 4-on-3 PP. But don't score. But do so 4-on-4 from the hard board work of Ronnie and Gnarly's slick pass out front to Kiefer who shoots to score and WIN!
OBSERVATIONS
Huggie played all of OT! Over 3 minutes in a single shift! Wow!
Nucks season faint playoff hopes are still alive for another day. Uncertain the Sharkies will do us any favours with Minni, but still... what an astounding way to finish this lost season.
Fun fact: This is the Nucks 1st win over stars since November 2023. Starting a new trend, perhaps?
Other not so fun fact: Nucks improved to 2-20-5 when trailing after two periods. Doubling their win record is good. Be better if there was more than a single win in that record.
The sky is pouring down with shock, disbelief and wonder...
This game was INSANE. Talk about selling tickets for next season. #nhl #canucks

Rick Tocchet says his son texted him saying the #Canucks looked like last year's team in the third period. "He gave me a little shot," said the coach about his son's text. "It was nice to see the fight in the guys."

Analogy Corner
When you consider what the #Canucks did tonight as the equivalent of proposing marriage to avoid an inevitable breakup, it sounds less fun 😂

Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in. #Canucks

We're still Quinning!
Hughes headed for sixth straight #Canucks top defenceman award at 25 years old. If a career Canuck, should win that award for 15+ straight seasons as long as he stays healthy. Will have to name the award after him in that case

Anything else? Yes!
Garland and Suter.
And Sherwood.
All should be Nucks lifers.
These are the money guys. Low cost, high performance.

Also.... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Video Replaying
It's Shortie and Dave expecting to call the usual 5-2 loss.
Re-watch the biggest Nucking minute of the season!
