That's it. Nucks officially out of the playoff chase pipe dream faint farty towel pursuit.
Another promising season ends badly. Only this time, it's waaaay worse.
Unlike last year's coaching change and new coach bump and almost making it, this season started with a lame duck coach, as Bruce was never Sith Rutherford's guy. You might wonder why they didn't go for Tocco in the summer. But, it's the Nucks, so there's never any shortage of wondering to wonder about.
Too soon to dissect this pathetic season? Yeah, save something for next week, next month and the month after.
Anyhow, we're in the final stretch to golf, let's recap this game, because it's my job. Ok, fine, not a job, more like ineffective therapy.
Game started well. Nucks gets on the board first with the hard work of Huggie, Millsie and Brock. Brock gets the 1st goal of the game. Just not the last, or 2nd-to-last or even 3rd-to-last. Although, it was the last Nucking goal of the game.
Early on it looked like the Nucks would beat LA, again.
the Kings have a chance to get 1st in the conference and can't get going against the Canucks....that has to burn
Westy
But then, the Kings remembered they could clinch with a win. And put on a display 4-on-4. The Nucks put on the powder and made their own display.
clown shoes defence; the dirty look back from Bear there (I think it was him) says it all
copey
It's 1-1 after 1. Is that so bad?
No. Bad things happening is what 2nd periods are made for.
Not horrible bad, Nucking PK only give up a single goal. That's not so bad.
the shots were 6-5 LA, but honestly, the entire ice seemed tilted against the Nux that 2nd period; shift after shift they looked gassed and ashamed dogging it back to the bench
copey
2-1 LA after 2. Everything to play for. If you're a playoff bound team getting into playoff tone.
So... in the 3rd... LA pulled away to win 4-1. Could have been a closer game if the Nucking PP hadn't squandered its 1 PP goal per 2 games quota last game.
Worse, Pete's point streak stops at 14 games.
Sorry, Petey.
copey
Not that it was the game threaders fault - but, why take the chance.
In this loss, JT's line played better than Pete's line. So expect a pushback 5 game point streak for Pete.
Not a bad game, we've seen much worse from the Nucks in the past 70+ games...yet...somehow...
Well, that sucked.
copey
Nucks face another basic loss to pretend rival, the Krakedends on Tuesday. It's a pretend rivalry because the Nucks can only pretend to be facing the emerald and concrete city in the playoffs.
One More For CHEECH!
Again, unfortunate the 2 Johns couldn't comment about a spirited hard fought loss.

ROG RECYCLING & PRESSERING
New callup, Hirose, had a good Nucking 1st game and presser.
The fake chase is over for InterTikiToki who is sounding eerily similar to recent end of season Nucks coaches - puts a nice spin on the extra time off - he's a coach with a great deal of extended end-of-season experience.
That's 3 straight losses for the Nucks. 2 straight in the ROG. At least we can take false comfort they have solidified their tenuous grip on 25th.
Anything else? The Faeries saved their best for last, so we get to see a bunch of new D. But still... can you imagine how many more games the Nucks could have lost if only OEL had stayed healthy?
Let's find out.
