NUCKS LEAD, FALLBACK, TIE AND DRIVE AWAY.
A WIN FROM A GAME WE REALLY NEEDED.
Can you believe this team? They're something. Something special when Demko is near Demmers level.
Without Petey or Hoagie again, it was time for the recently supered-up stars to keep the goals pouring. And did. From offensive D-wizards to Räty and 3-point sniper, Keif the Chief to Teddy Sniper.
Having finished purging the demons in Jersey, Nucks were on the island... the one in NY, not BC, to keep the hot 'n sweaty, tense and seedy chase going.
1ST
Nucks start the period well. Isles kind of do too. Best part was Demmers stopping our old Bo point-blank.
Tight, tough period of hockey with both teams fighting for the honour of getting bounced in the 1st round. The award for most 2-on-1 chances given up goes to... the Nucks.
Doesn't matter. Isles outshoot Nucks 10-5 and the 1st ends in the 0-0 tie.
2ND
Things starting heating up in the 2nd. Nucks get on the board 1st with Kief tipping a Huggie shot past Shirks. Think that's his nickname.
WOOOO KIEF!!! Beauty tip on a huggy shot.
Twitch
Nucks are gifted a PP as our old Bo takes one for his old team. Don't get excited, not an own goal, just a penalty. Which didn't work out too well for the Nucks PP... as... Huggie's pass at the Isles B-line is too far for Lekker - puck is intercepted and Islanders 2-on-1 shortie happens. Ugh.
1-1 and then the really bad part happens. Promise, it's the last bad part. A little sloppy play from the Nucks in front of Demmers and now the Isles are leading 2-1.
Doesn't matter. Even in the moment it felt like it.
Nucks keep pressing. M-Petey fires a shot from the point and Räty tips it in the net. All evens.
Until the last 30 seconds of the period when Jake sets up the streaking to the net, D-wizard who beat Shirkston glove side for the GWG.
WOOO BOBBY FORRBORT!!!
Twitch
Nucks take a commanding one goal lead 3-2 into the 3rd.
3RD
As we have seen before, commanding one goal leads often don't command the respect expected. Even if it did this time.
Nucks decide, early to pad the lead. Because... why not?
Barely a minute in with a Nucking scoring chance thwarted, Isles intend to clear the zone, but Gnarly intends something else. Gets the puck back, passes to Teddy who scores low glove side past Pulledrokin.
WOOO TEDDY!
Twitch
Oh shit we chased the goalie!
Isles make a valiant, but thoughtfully futile attempt to catch up with their own futile PP late. Pull the new goalie to take on the Nucks PK 6-on-4. Doesn't help.
Because 6-on-4 didn't work, Roy decides to take it down a notch with the 6-on-5 play.
Which plays well. For Suter, who passes to Kief for the EN and 2nd goal of the game.
Keif with the Louie!
Twitch
Nucks win 5-2 over the Isles!
Just as we expected with out top 6 loaded up with snipers and stuff.
Always great when the lower paid guys score. Pencil Raty in at league minimum and the Suter becomes affordable at 4 mil. If O'Connor is worth 2.5, then Suter is surely worth 4.

NUCKS WIN ANOTHER GAME! ON THE ROAD! ON THE ISLAND! The NY island.
OBSERVATIONS
What a game! Could it be that Demko played even better than the previous game? Yes, it could!
Quinn picks up another point and didn't have to get the 30+ minute ordeal. Played just 24 mintues.
Gritty team effort - didn't sit back in the 3rd. Pressed for more. And got more. Woooo!
The sky is pouring out the Nucking fun as well...
In Wednesday’s win vs #NYI Kiefer Sherwood passed the 30 point mark for the 1st time in his #NHL career…with arguably his most impactful road game in a #Canucks uniform 2 goals 1 assist 4 shots on goal 10 shot attempts 4 hits +3 15:43 TOI @sportsnet650.bsky.social @snstats.bsky.social

The #Canucks playoff chances are rising from the dead, call that Nosfe-Räty.

if demko was healthy all year, #canucks are easily in the playoffs. If demko was healthy 2 years ago, Boudreau never gets fired

Vancouver continues to scrape and claw for points. Goals from surprising sources tonight! The #Canucks need three wins on this roadie to stay in the race, and they have two with two games left. They're keeping it interesting! Coconuts Go!

Probably the most amusing thing about #Canucks stat cards is how Tyler Myers is either top right (best) or bottom left (worst) every game. There's no middle ground.
