THAT'S A TWO GAME HOME WINSTREAK
What a crazy day. So many trades. Mind-boggling last second trades. Which the Nucks brain-management-trust avoided. The smart move was no moves at all.
JR must have been furious. Furiously laughing at the Vancouver media. And the TDL-addled fans.
Now that armchair GM spectacle is out of the way, Nucks can get back to what they do best. Winning a hockey game. Fine. It's not what they have done best all year... but it's in the Top 10.
Great start to the game, and even better, EP40 is back and scoring on the PP.
That's excellent.
1ST
Nucks come out hot and get cooled off by the pushy, shovy, grabby Minnimates.
Doesn't matter.
What matters is that the Nucks score on the PP. And more importantly, EP40 scored on his actual EP40 blast.
OMG OMG OMG!!! PETEY GOAL!!!!
Twitch
Nucks lead, 1-0 after 1.
Woahhh, Petey!
Atty
How.long we waited for this? One year?
2ND
Nucks get outshot and out hit by the Wild Ones through most of the 2nd.
But Lanky didn't give up a goal which gives him two-thirds of a shutout. Not so much giving, as earning it. The hard way.
That means something important.
The Canucks have another 1 goal lead. This time after 2 periods!
3RD
Despite spending too much time in their own end and not enough down in the Minni zone, the Nucks don't give up the lead. Too early.
The Wilders get another power play and again it looks like the Number One PK in the league - which is the Nucks PK - will kill it off. But carbon fiber stick gawds give up on Myers clearing shot. Myers has no stick, so Sherwood gives his stick, his little toothpick to Tyler. And then instead of blocking shots with his winning smile, Kief goes to the bench to retrieve a new toothpick.
On the ensuing 5-on-3, it's a Wild PP goal. Ouch!
Ach, bad play by Sherwood. Understand taking the chance, but yer on the PK, man.
Thursday
Oh well. It's not like the Wild are pressing and putting puck after puck on net while the Nucks are on the heels of their passive shoe skates while getting stuck in the thick icky stickies of center ice. Can't get into Wild territory unless it's a shoot-in.
What the actual fuck... how do the canucks not have any seeming ability to clear a puck in third periods? Again and again this happens. Is this a systems issue? I'm starting to think it is, and if so, tocchet needs to go.
Twitch
Don't even know if it's nerves, but yeah they keep trying to sit and squat late.
Thursday
Again, thankfully, it doesn't matter. As Kief the Chief comes off the bench where he joins his linemates doing that weird thing, called something fore something checking. Kief sweeps around behind the withering wild net. Ronnie passes to him backdoor. And blamo whamo, Kief scores the GWG. Redemption for his toothpick retrieval move.
WOOOOOO KEIF!!!
Twitch
The big pushy shovy Wild are shocked. The happy ROG is going wild. They had the Nucks on the ropes. Turns out Nucks were on a rope - a rope-a-dope.
That was a game of chess. We did nothing on offense for 1st 16 minutes of the 3rd and then got very aggressive which threw the Wild off. That 1 shift won the game. #Canucks

WIld have to pull out their goalie and attack 6-on-5 which should mean they can easily enter the Nucking zone. Except... it's not easy no more.
Even better, Louie Blueger scores into the wild empty net while a Wildling draped over him.
Nucks win 3-1! Woo!
OBSERVATIONS
EP40 scored his 1st goal in 16 games. Woooo!
Sherwood broke his 10 game goal drought.
Teddy got his 2nd goal in consecutive games - after a 28 game drought.
Lanky was the game's 1st star and received the consolation shutout prize. Which is the 2nd consecutive ROG win! Woo!!
Ronnie and his 2 points were awarded the 2nd star. He played well with DPetey, who Ronnie has been mentoring according to Taco.
Petey OG edition was the game's 3rd star and played a solid, engaged game. And you know, scored the incredible, almost game winning PP goal. Woo!!!
Not to make much of a big deal of it... but this is only the 2nd win over Minni in a few seasons of not winning.
The sky is clearing too... after all that TDL smoke and no fire.
Another great game. Fun game. Two in a row. We’re on a roll! #canucks

A little dig at past Nucking D.
With two points, Filip Hronek moves past Jim Benning on the #Canucks all-time points by a defenceman list. Benning had 70 in 241 games while Hronek now has 71 in 126 games

Maybe it was a shutout... less one...
Kevin Lankinen stole that game. No other way to describe that #Canucks win than outright theft.

“He’s juking, he’s shooting, he’s feeling himself and he’s getting his swagger back which is scary to see,” said Kiefer Sherwood about Elias Pettersson. #Canucks

PLAYERS 'N TACO TALK
Player coach pressers not available at press time...
Instead enjoy the presence of standing Pat Alvin.
Just kidding... here's Lanky talking about the shutout-adjacent win.
A relaxed Brock talking about staying rather than going.
Kief, the other 3rd star, talks about getting a vital win.
Petey, smiling during a presser is a wonderful thing.
Taco talks about the good, the bad, the fugly. The fugly lack of shots on goal. And chewing out Petey on the bench.
Another must-needed win. All the wins are must-win now. Nucks are a point ahead of Cowtown, and inside the 2nd wobble seed. Much wobbling and up and downing to go.
Thus concludes the easy home game stretch. Sunday the new look Stars will be in the ROG with their new $96M forward. Hope that pisses off Petey OG enough to score a couple and setup the Brocktrick, because Nucks will need more than 3 goals to win that one.
