MUST WIN GAMES DON'T MEAN WHAT THEY USED TO

This loss wasn't as bad as the Disneyland loss last game. Although the Nucks just lost to the (2nd) worst team in the division. When you lose to the (2nd to) last place team and you're a playoff bubble team, what does that mean?

Means what we've seen for over a decade. That last season's incredible season was an anomaly. And the team is cursed to wait every 17 years to make a run for the finals. 2028 is gonna be great! Possibly.

Worse... if you can believe it - as a Nucks fan, not only believe, expect it - and as expected, Quinn appeared to tweaked his oblique injury in the 2nd on the Krakling's tying goal. Couldn't even play in final half of the 3rd when the Nucks really needed a goal or as they say multiple goals. And to put a pain on pain, Quinn finished with a -3. His reliable partner, Ronnie, was worse - on the ice for 4 of the Seatown tallies.

I take it back. This loss was worse than last game. We lost the game and possibly Huggie for an unknown number of games.

Canucks have no wins this season when trailing after 2. Been over a year since the Nucks have come back to win after trailing.

1ST

Seatown scored the 1st goal.

Nucks score the tying goal from Suter. Suter, one of the Nucks leading lights.

Nucks take the lead on Chytil's 1st goal in a month. Yay!

Nucks are leading, 2-1 after 1. Nucks Win! A period!

2ND

Seatown ties it early on a tipped shot.

Nucks retake the lead on the PK. O'Connor sets up Josh for the shortie. Yay!

Nucks 3-2 lead is lost as Seatown scores right off the face off as EP40 loses the faceoff and his man and another tipped shot zips past Lanky.

And guess what... a minute later Krakling get the lead on... wait for it... another tipped shot in front of Lanky. So much tipping.

In fact, in this game, the Seatown lowly bottom-feeder team just set the league record this season for the most tipped shots in a single period.

So Canucks... getting records. For other teams.

Nucks are down 4-3 after 2. And they ain't coming back.

3RD

This period was just another continuation of that brutal stat: Nucks haven't come back to win this season when trailing after 2.

And worse, instead of getting the tying goal, the Nucks give up a goal 2 seconds after EP40's penalty expired.

Down 2 goals and time running out, Taco pulls Lanky for the inevitable EN against.

6-3 Kraken.

OBSERVATIONS

Nucks were 6 and 1 going into the 4 Vacations series.

After the break they're 1 and 5.

Do the Nucks really want to coast into the playoffs? Or just avoid those futile extra 4 games? Doesn't seem to be any urgency from most of the players to decisively claim that final wildcard spot.

This year has been filled with disappointment and adversity - it's the Nucks way! JR/PA have some really tough choices to make this coming week. And none them good.

On the EP92 watch... Petey has 1 or fewer shots in his last 9 games. This game, like last, no shots on goal. 4 shot attempts, so that's something.

Brock had no shots on goal and even passed off on a grade A chance. Has 1 goal in his last 6 games.

You might be wondering then... who are the highest scoring Nucking players right now? Since the end of January, the team leading snipers are Suter and... wait for it... Myers. Each with 8 points. Both an astonishing and depressing stat.

I would actually end Pettersson’s season now or very soon. Go on the IR with the tendonitis or whatever the hell is bothering him. Get a head doctor and let him start his off season rehabilitation early. He offers nothing to the team but distraction. #Canucks

I think I’m finally accepting that this season is lost. Tanking isn’t an option, but trading is. #Canucks aren’t the same as this time last year, both in terms of success and personnel. A full and thorough analysis of what this team has and what it lacks is needed. Playoffs are a waste of time.
