What a great night. Some say it was poetic. Best way to celebrate Lu (and his sucky contract) is to get the shutout for Demko.

Cap Capture Re-capture Night in the ROG

Kent posted a poignant recapture of Lu's years as a Canuck. Westy, posted a pointed legal argument about contracts and their suckiness.

Lu Lu Lu.....

Are you the best goalie the Canucks ever had? Yes, without a doubt.

Was his exit out of Vancouver graceful? Like a moose on a sheet of ice.

I ragged on Lu for years after his trade and stand by it. His contract which made him rich, which he "hated", was a noose around the Canucks salary cap for three years. You could applaud him for retiring instead of going on LTIR, but he didn't feel bad about sticking it to the organization.

Usually when Lu returns to the ROG, Nucks lose... because cap recapture reasons? Don't know.

He's finally off the books and the Nucks don't have to play nice-nice with the Floride Planters.

You knew it was going to be a good start because Demko won the opening celeb faceoff.

We also knew it was going to be going to be a good game, because Kuz scored the opening goal - a wicked snipe after the hard work by Gnarly at the line. It was the GWG! Told you we knew it was going to be a good night.

For a little, unneeded insurance, Josh scores a sweet backhand goal off his own rebound.

2-0 Nucks after 1. That's double the commanding lead required to win. But we didn't know that yet.

In the 2nd, the Taco Tough Nucks keep coming at the Floride and actually outshoot them. And, totally gratuitous, out score them. Again.

The next Nucks goal came from Joshua (again) off a great setup from Bob the Goalie. No, really. Bob went out to play the puck, sees Josh coming down the middle - his Bob Brain farted and put the puck right on Josh's stick.

3-0 Nucks and pulling away. Pulled away some more with a goal from Bess on the Nucks 5-on-3 PP.

4-0 Nucks after 2. Almost was 5-nothing, but the Nucks remembered the dreaded insurmountable 5 goal lead thing from last year.

In the 3rd, Nucks looked forward to putting more shots on Bob the Goalie... but Bob declined the offer and was replaced by Stolarz.

The Nucks seemed disappointed. So disappointed they rarely ventured into the Florid zone. Stolarz stopped all the Vancouver shots he faced. Just the one shot from Pete.

As is Nucks recent team tradition, a Nucks goalie needs to earn his shutouts. And Demko was earning lots of shots from Floriduh as well as a couple bonus bounces from his own team. Demko seemed unperturbed by the new defensive axiom: Trust No One.

Gamethread wasn't worried either.

Good thing we're leading by 4 cuz holy shit are the boys being casual right now.

Despite the no Nucking offensive forecheck the Nucks - Your Vancouver Canucks - defeat the little cheats from SoBeach 4-0. Wooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Not gonna lie, that third period makes me a bit uncomfortable... total lay back by the team.

In his presser, Taco was totally cool with it - got to rest his top players. Maybe not totally fine with the near zero O-zone time, but maybe the Goalie Must Earn The Shutout thing is part of the Taco Tough technique.

All's well that ends well. Lu's recapture penalty has been served. Demmers gets a tribute shutout. Nucks beat another team from the east.

They played so amazingly well in the first two periods that they decided to take a break in the third, and just enjoy looking at the scoreboard. A road trip is coming, so they used the third period for an extra hour of rest.
Still got the shut-out. Stunning.

I think we may have witnessed the start of the new glory days of this team.
The home-stand against these east-coast teams was something I don't remember seeing for a very long time.

ATTENTION: NUCKS RECORD DEPARTMENT

Nucks have won 20 games of their 30 played. This is the BEST START IN NUCKING HISTORY!

Nucks, again lead the league in games won in regulation. 19 of their 20 wins have been in regulation. This team isn't from the CoTU where they give away loser points like Westy gives away gratuitous rum slogans.

Most importantly, the Nucks extend their lead in the most important stat: DIFF of +41. Wow!

Well... that was a pretty good homestand. Other than, or because of that crappy game against Jersey, the Nucks have won 4 straight. And now are the best starting Nucks team in all of Nucking history.

Because it's near the holidays, the Nucks must go out on the road to play the next 4 games. Only a couple proper games and a couple brunch games. First up Eggs McWild Mall of Murica style on Saturday at 11AM.
