NUCKS WIN - IN THE TOUGHEST TO WIN BUILDING - THE ROG!!!
This was hardest road game the Nucks have played. B-b-but it's a home game!
Exactly. The Nucks have won 3 games in the ROG this season. And lost 8. Ouch! Now 4 wins, but we're not there yet.
But Demmmers is back! Yay! On the bench. Oh...
With some kind of prophetic rum vision, Westy's preview set us up for one of the worst Nucking 1st periods in a season filled with terrible Nucking 1st periods.
Sounds like a game where the Canucks forget to show up.
Westy
If I said the Nucks set a new record in the 1st period would you be surprised? Not really. But they did. Only recorded 2 shots. Their lowest shot total in a 1st period - so far,
Meanwhile the young fast and not tired (yet) Jackets put 17 shots on Lanky and scored 2 goals. While the Nucks looked like a meek team living in the dark shadow of the ROG rink of doom.
2-0 BJs after 1. The 14th time the Nucks have given up the 1st goal of the game. But the 2nd goal? We'll watch that.
However, in the 2nd, after getting their Nucking ears burned, not by Taco Tough Talk, but Huggie locker room pillaging and accountability lessons, the Nucks were back to playing scrappy comeback hockey.
Early in the period, fortunately for our fragile gamethread nerves, Huggie performed the Huggie loop around the net and puts a plattered puck on Brock's stick. And the Brocket shot breaks through players and Elvis. Nucks within 1.
Comical Moment
After the refs ignoring when Huggie had his stick slashed out of his hands with no call, Desh ran some interference and was called for it. We were angry in the game thread, even after the replay showed that it was Huggie breaking his stick while slashing the opponent's stick. Not the point. Officials have some makeup calls from the Sutherlanding we suffered last game.
Anyhow, Nucks PK kills off the Desh penalty and Desh comes out of the box with a clear line to Elvis. And puts a muffin on net.
Lol of all the people to get a breakaway, it's desharnais. One career goal desharnais. Thats so canucks.
Twitch
However, maybe Elvis was feeling bad about crushing Desh's moment of infeasible glory. Or he was just bored and decided to play as the secret 4th forward so Elvis left the net. Shoots the puck into Blueger's crest. Bluger passes to Sherwood who puts a shot into the vacated net.
Wooo! Sherwood! Thank Elvis!

Tied up 2-2 after 2. That's not so bad.
And it gets better. Because the Nucks start the near instant redemption period near instantly.
Barely couple minutes in and Gnarly gets gnarly behind the Jacket net, passes out to Suter the Shooter who puts a dribbler through Elvis. It's the GWG!
And even better the Nucks get 2nd PP of the game and get to flex their prowess, their sticks against the worst road PK in the league. Huggie takes a shot, breaks his stick, puck goes towards the net and Jake breaks the ROG curse, tips the wayward shot past Elvis.
WOOOOOO! PP GOAL! Broken stick leads to the debrusky
Twitch
Not just Jake's 1st goal in the ROG this season, but his 1st goal in the ROG ever! Wow!
Late in the 3rd, Elvis is officially evacuated from the net. Gnarly and Blueger miss the EN, not Suter who pops his 2nd goal of the night.
Wooo Soots with two!
Twitch
Nucks comeback from the sleepiest 1st period so far to win 5-2. WOOOOOOOO!
Perfect home start, after a great trip.

Just forget the first period.
What a gutsy effort against Buff and BC Faeries.
After so many years, Petey has his linemate. That's the best news today, after Demmers.

OBSERVATIONS
The abomination of the 1st was redeemed. But... maybe get the team new watches or something. And a phrase dictionary with the term 'Starting Time' underlined.
Nucks allowed too, too many shots in the 1st. 17 shots against in 1 flipping period. Hilariously that number that is the total number of shots they put on Elvis. Who posted a .75 SV%
Soup was solid again this game. And he needs to be, as Branny and Desh were not.
Huggie just keeps putting up points and lifting the Nucks to do better and better. Thanks, Quinn!
What a relief to see DeBrusk get DeGoal in a rink that has evaded his sniping for his entire career. Now he can score at will in the ROG. Hopefully.
Nucks allowed too, too many shots in the 1st.
Nucks without JT still suck in the dot. Only won 40.6% of their draws. That's not great. Will be better when JT returns from his inner hockey meditation center.
Carumbus are a really good team off the rush. The Nucks aren't. But they're really good off the scrappiness.
Anything else? Yes!
Hard fought road home win!

Nucks get another rare road home win. Will see if this 1st period lesson has some effect. Be nice if the home win side of the schedule balances the loss side - only 4 more wins to go!
With this home game over, Nucks go back on the NHL road scheduler's eastern team schedule. 1PM start on Sunday in the road ROG house. Welcome back!
