Not to jump ahead of this game...but I will, the game against Edmonton on Saturday, will probably decide who gets 1st overall. Of course, if the Canucks lose tonight, then 2nd place looks more probable and a meeting against LA or Vegas. The Canucks cannot finish any lower than 2nd place.
The last game against Vegas was a roller coaster ride. The start was very typical of the the team over the past month, but then a small miracle occurred....the powerplay awoke! The double screen is a system I haven't seen the Canucks run on purpose before. The key to this system is that the bumper and low man have to get inside position on the defense so that if the puck hits the goalie, they can get the rebound. Fortunately, the two shots got through the Vegas goalie. The real question is how will the PP use this system and will they mix up the systems during the game to keep teams honest. The Canucks have a tendency to stick to only one system, which makes it easier to coach against.

Status report
The Coyotes did not hold a morning skate Wednesday following a 5-0 loss at the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday. ... Ingram is expected to start after Vejmelka made 20 saves at Seattle; the goalies have alternated starts the past 14 games. ... Lindholm is likely to return after missing seven games with a wrist injury; Canucks coach Rick Tocchet said he still had to talk to the center after he participated in an optional morning skate Wednesday. ... Podkolzin appears to be the forward who would come out of the lineup; it would be his first healthy scratch in 17 games. … Silovs will make his fourth start in six games after DeSmith started the first seven following the injury to Demko, who returned to practice for the first time Tuesday; Demko took part in the optional skate Wednesday but there is no timeline for the goalie's return.
