"Right now, we're a little bit slow." ~ Elias Lindholm
"You’ve got to deal with the pressure." ~ Coach Taco
Every player will go through a slump and sometimes multiple players go into a slump which leads to a team going into a slump. Slumps don't necessary have to be offensive ones, as players could be missing defensive assignments or taking too many penalties. 82 games is a long season and so it shouldn't be a surprise to see this team hit this brick wall.
Recently, I have been firing shots at Petey for his performance. I am not the only one and surprisingly, Thomas Drance was playing the role of bodyguard for Petey:
The wonderful things about stats is that I too can cherry-pick them. In 6 games against Colorado, Boston, Winnipeg and Vegas, Petey has 0 points and is -8. Each one of those has been a "big" game. To cherry-pick again, during this 4 game losing streak, Petey has 1 point and is -5. This team absolutely needs Petey to get going again. I will say this, for the most part, Petey has been better against teams that he has faced more than once as he must study what they do against him and he adjusts.
So let's hope Petey has been siting in front of screen to see how to break through against Boston. The Canucks have faired pretty well against Boston over the past 5 years, with last year being the only time the Canucks lost.
