Battle for the Basement begins now. Cowtown lost their home opener - badly. Canucks lost theirs - really well.

These teams are/were projected to finish in the bottom of the division. Cowtown has the lead as the worst. Part of us wants them to keep it. The DuPont part of us does not. So early in the season to be conflicted. Good start!

Othmann replaces Zary, a forward who will be a healthy scratch. … Hanley replaces fellow defenseman Kuznetsov and will play alongside Nemec instead of Bahl, who is now paired with Whitecloud. … Cooley makes his first start of the season. ... DeBrusk won’t play because of illness, according to Canucks coach Manny Malhotra, after skating as an extra forward in practice on Friday. … Vancouver held an optional morning skate but based on practice Friday, Cotter will move up from the fourth line to take the place of Rossi, who will skate at left wing on the first line, and Raty will enter the lineup after two games as a healthy scratch. … Merilainen will make his first start since being claimed off waivers from the Ottawa Senators on Sept. 25.

Hmmm... DeBrusk has the rebuild flu so soon...
