Rebuild Rules: When the fanbase turns on you and your coach, it must be November.
CANUCKS (3-14-1) at OILERS (11-3-3)
10 p.m. ET; TVAS, SN
Canucks fans are weird. To be fair, all sports fans are weird. Perhaps it's the years of fantasy roster-building and couch-coaching that bestows the gift of knowing better than well-paid professionals.
Regardless, at a certain point in a rebuild, sometimes measured in futile years or in this case less than 20 games - fans are clamouring for the end of it.
Canucks fans are a patient group. We gave the team all the development / rebuild time in the world. That was October. Now we want to see results. Have we all become Franny?
That's a scarier thought than facing the Oil PP. Almost.
Tonight's Nucking Strategy:
Do NOT take ANY penalties! Got that, DOC?
Do NOT take your eyes and elbows off McD and Dry. Check 'em hard. Even when they're on the bench.
Do NOT get flustered at the sign of 5 or 6 goals against - in the 1st or 2nd period. Or both. Pace the fluster cluster.
DO have fun!
