Great Tanking News! Last Place Locked! More Than Needed.
Good news... Canucks played great. For a last place team.
Here's what we learned:
Canucks won the special teams battle! Yay!
Didn't win the 5-on-5 part of the program. And as ever gave up the requisite Footey.
Getting back to the ROG from a long exhilarating (Rocky Mt High) and exhausting road trip is trying at the best of times for the Canucks. During the worst of times, no better.
Oh well... Nucks played as hard as they could and made as few mistakes as they could. Just not few enough.
If anyone needs blame for why the Canucks is tanking, donβt blame all three Petey, Boeser, Karlsson, or the others. Blame Hughes, Footey, Patty Allvin or Franny #Canucks

Tanks for watching!
Period 1
Nucks scored the 1st goal on the game. From a deft backhand from one of the league's top rookies, Linus.
We need more Karlssons and fewer Pettersons.
-- Ripper
However, woolly coyotes scored 2 to take the shine off leading for over 10 minutes.
Nucks outshot the mammoth desert dogs 11-7, yet for inexplicable defensive reasons, trailed 2-1 after 1.
Some sound improvements suggested... and eerie foreshadowing.
Maybe the NHL should make the 1st period to just 15 minutes #Canucks

YES! And 2nd periods to 2 minutes. What a time saver that would be.

And ban Foote to the dressing room in the last 5 minutes of the third.#Canucks

Period 2
You may have heard that 2nd periods are not the Nucks luckiest period. At home or on the road. And especially at home.
To be clear, the 1st couple minutes of the 2nd can be good as Karlsson ties the game at 2.
We could comment on the Rank amatuer status of the reffing, but that's Gary's preference. So we won't talk about how many times the Nucks were jobbed. At last count it was 4 or 5. But, we're not talking about it.
#Canucks lose a goal challenge they didn't challenge. How challenging is that?

Nucks trail 4-2 after 2. And we're not gonna complain about the officiating. For a few minutes.
The refβs mics sound like an angry Wendyβs drive thru. #Canucks

Period 3
Nucks start the period on the PP. And score! Jake DeScorer.
Da GOAL for DeBrusk ππ #Canucks πππ 20 seconds in!!

PPG MASTER JAKE DEBRUSK!!! #Canucks
— CrankyCanucksFan π¨π¦π (@crankycanucksfan.bsky.social) April 4, 2026 at 6:22 PM
Canucks within 1 and we can feel the pushback pushing.
From the wrong direction. 5-3 Wooly skaters.
No worries. Nucks PP is back on the ice to power through the deficit.
Either Rossi scored or Bess tipped Rossi's shot or something something.
MARGOAL ROSSI!!!! #Canucks

Canucks back within 1. Or 2. Whatever. Didn't last as guess what?
Canucks give up a goal to a goon. 6-4 Wooly goons.
When thugs go unimpeded, even scoring goals in games they should have sat for multiple penalties, that makes #NHL refs look like clowns. π€‘ #Canucks

And now we're onto the Footey watch.
Oooo we gonna see a footey?
-- Twitch
Doubt not.
Some old hotshot yote gets the EN and the hattie.
Footey giving out Footies until the end of time. Or the season #Canucks

Nucks lose at home 7-4 for the 80th time this season.
#Canucks Kierszenstat of the Game: Vancouver allows it's 24th empty net goal this season. That is tied for the sixth-most allowed since the stat started being tracked in 2009-10.
— Adam Kierszenblat (@adamkblat.bsky.social) April 4, 2026 at 6:59 PM
Footey won't take being 6th with 6 games remaining. Might pull the goalie late 2nd.
To be fair, Nucks were facing a woolly beast playing for the seedy playoffs. Nucks were playing for fun and almost glory.
Wasn't here for the first half, but the second half looked pretty okay for the team. The entertainment value was there, even if the result wasn't. Would have liked to have been within one for longer, though.
-- Thursday
OBSERVATIONS:
The pressure of basement maintenance is over! And yet, Nucks needed an insurance marker. Sometimes hockey math is weird math.
Players of Interest:
Fan appreciation night wasn't quite that appreciative as it could have been.
With the loss tonight, the #Canucks can not finish with more than 10 home victories this season. They are currently at 8 and have 2 games remaining.

Good game... other than the gaffs and young D glitches.
Good fight back from the last place team in the #NHL. They are what they are, and we can only hope for more of this energy than the blowouts weβve seen this season. #Canucks

Welcome back to the ROG! Where losing games is exciting again!
More excitement on Tuesday as Nucks host the Nighties at night.
