The Tanking News! Last Place BEATS the Champs!
Good news... Canucks win ALL the minutes - Petey Busts His Goal Drought! Happy St Patty's Day!
Here's what we learned:
Petey scored 2 PP goals! Broke his 20 game goal drought. Now has 200 goals in his NHL career!
His one-timer on the 1st Nucks PP was a flashback to 2023 Petey.
Not only was Petey shooting and scoring, Rossi and Brock picked up 3 points each.
If you were wondering why the Cats are losing more than winning, we witnessed the reason. Maurice has adopted Footey's early season D-zone coverage. As in... no net front coverage. Canucks scored 3 goals uncontested in front of Bob. Wow!
Tanks off for the night!
I'm on team tank (begrudgingly) but not tonight. Always great to beat the Panthers! F them Congrats to EP40 for his 200th goal. Happy for Lankinen to get the win. He was overdue and it was weirdly "easy" imo 😆🍀💚💙🏒 #Canucks

Period 1
Canucks score first. On the PP! EP40's one-timer shot went right through Bob.
We were both so relieved and telling everyone who couldn't hear us how important it is to SHOOT the puck.
We won't mention the Nucks clearing attempt that hit a skate and resulted in a goal against. Nope. not saying anything more.
Because it might be a 1-1 tie, but not for long. Nucks are back on the PP.
Know who scores? Yup. Petey with another laser. A flexible laser that deflects off Forsling, off Ekblad and past Bob.
2-1 Nucks and the game is just getting going.
The Nucks forecheck is ferocious. Or if you're a Panther, nothing to worry about as the puck is obviously clearing the zone, so we might as well too. Except the puck doesn't leave the zone. Brock passes to Rossi, who has so much alone time and space to pick his spot beating Bob in close.
EP 40 gets 200; power play comes through, the BRÖ Line comes through again... Fun period!

MarcGooooooaaaaallllll Rossiiiiiiiiiiiiii All alone in front like Celine Dion. #Canucks

No sooner than the words come out of Ray Ferraro’s mouth and BINGO ROSSI! #canucks

3-1 after 1 and Nucks are ready to play another 6 games against the Cats and win the Cup. Screw the rest of the league and their money-grubbing owners. We could settle it this month. If the Nucks defensive breakdowns, you know, didn't break down too much.
#Canucks head into the most dreaded period in hockey with the 2nd safest lead in hockey. Exciting!

Period 2
We're not afraid of no 2nd period ROG curse. Even better, neither are the Canucks.
Sure, mid-period our faux courage took a hit as the Cats scored.
But it does not matter. Because... lonely Bob is again deserted by his team at a critical moment. R2 doesn't have quite as much time and space in front of Bob... but enough to score another goal!
2 goal lead re-leaded. 4-2 Nucks after 2.
The #Canucks have escaped the Curse of the Second Period! That's a win all on its own!

#Canucks make it out the most dreaded period in hockey with the 2nd safest lead in hockey! In the ROG!

Period 3
4-2 lead going into the 3rd. Would there be a Footey from a Foote?
No, there would not.
In fact, not only do the Nucks not fade away, they push the play and score again.
DOC scores right in front of lonely Bob.
Not making it up.
Canucks win 5-2 in the ROG. Defeat the reigning champs!
Have I mentioned that the Rossi - Boeser - Öhgren line looks pretty damn fun? I don't think I'll regret watching that through the rest of the season, #Canucks

OBSERVATIONS:
Gutsy win, the boys should have fun tonight. Who needs that sore loser from Minny?

What a difference playing a slumping team makes. That and the new kids and old Nucks are starting to gel. PP was looking slick. Went 2 for 4. PK was perfect - the worst PK in the league stopped the champs - twice!
First time since opening night, Nucks scored 5 goals in the ROG. More of that please. Next season.

Canucks beating the stupid FlorDUH Panthers and MAGA wanker Tkachuk is sweet. E Pettersson just dropped the gloves for a scrap. E Kane also dropped his gloves but only on account he’s clumsy. #Canucks

The #Canucks are now 3-2-1 since the trade deadline.

Plan the parade!!! #Canucks - worst in the league - defeat the Cup champs 5-2 in the ROG! The Cup is ours. Even if it comes with a box of timbits.

Hey, HEY! The #Canucks got the win, sure, and we want that in front of the home crowd. But more than that, there was a pile of Good Things to take away from this game. Scoring from Pettersson the Forward, defending the net from Pettersson the Defenceman, results from the power play, and more! W00T!

Brock Boeser is now one point away from tying Tony Tanti for 9th all-time in points in #Canucks history

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
200th NHL goal - Petey is shooting more and getting more.
Brock with 3 points and the presser!
A happy Lanky makes you happy!
No post-game Footey video. He gave a presser and complimented his system and his offspring.
Nucks defeat the champs 5-2 at home. Wooooooooo!!!!!
32nd place Canucks have won 2 out of 4 on this 8 game home stand. That's pretty good.
A little tougher competition is in the ROG on Thursday as the Bolts roll in. We just don't care.
