Great Tanking News! Last Place Team Gets No Points!

Good news... Canucks win the last minute of the 3rd - Rossi scores while no Footey against is scored!

Here's what we learned:

The Nucks claimed their 20th win of the season last game. No reason to fluff up the one game win streak.

The narrative would go: Nucks score in the 1st minute of the 1st while scoring the last goal in the last minute of the game. Tossing that one in the bin.

Tolo won the last game, but this game, he looked not quite as good.

Period 1

Canucks score first. Or the visitors did. It's all very vague. The way it is when a long forgotten former Canucks scores on us.

Then the Canucks score, featuring Kane as the scoring sensation, a week after the TDL.

Nice goal by Kane! Why is he here?

1-1 tie and the Nucks are keeping the tie to the bitter end of the period.

But not the properly bitter end as the Nucks PK - ranked 32nd - gets to give up a goal in the last minute of the too long 1st period.

2-1 Kraklings after 1. Altho... Nucks did outshoot them 15-10, so that bodes well going into the 2nd period. Other than going into the 2nd period.

As some have observed, duration of NHL 1st periods are 2 minutes too long. #Canucks are a great 18 minute team. Not fair!

Period 2

The Nucks are playing well. For a bottom feeder team playing from behind the puck in the ROG.

Speaking of getting behind, Nucks get more behind barely 5 minutes in. Krak lead 3-1.

It would help if we could completely eliminate the second, too. Can we do that? Two halves, the first 18 minutes, the second 42?

While the shots are even at 11 each, Nucks trail 3-1 after 2.

Worse, D-Petey blocked a shot that put him down the tunnel. Tried to play in the 3rd, but couldn't. Ouch!

Period 3

If we followed the logic of trailing 3-1 into the 3rd against the Preds, we could expect the Nucks to comeback on Seatown as well. That's what they call faulty logic.

Fortunately for the big fat tank plan, the Nucks don't score early. Instead, the Nucks get a rush up ice, led by Zeev... play goes the other way and Karlsson tries playing D.

4-1 Krakeneers.

And before we can cheer (cheer?) for Kane's 2nd goal - which was a post and out. Before or after that, the Nucks young ones learn about how bad things happen after a bad line change.

5-1 Seatown.

And that's the game.

Or is it? Footey had no hope or time for a Footey thanks to Willi taking his 2nd penalty of the game late in the 3rd. However in the last minute of the 3rd, Rossi of 3 point Rossi fame got a surprising pass from Oleksiak out in front of the Kraking net, whipped the puck past the shocked Grubey.

That was a sweet finish to a sour(ish) game. Nucks didn't lose 5-1, but instead lose by a more respectable 5-2 final.

I have not changed my mind about Boeser, Öhgren, and Rossi being a fun watch on a #Canucks team that desperately needs it.

OBSERVATIONS:

Nucks made enough mistakes to keep the tank on track. Had enough moments to keep us interested. Pretty much. Nucks PP was disappointing as usual. Nucks PK only gave up 1 goal on 3 chances. Is a 66.66% PK result good?

Players of Interest:

• Rossi - got the (not nearly) winning goal.
• Tolo did not have a good game - some say he wants at least 3 of those back.

The highlight for NM was the big win on the TANKO card!
