Not Great Tanking News! Last Place Team Gets 2 points.
Good news... Canucks win their 7th home game of the season!
Here's what we learned:
First Nations night in the ROG with a cool logo on their jerseys. And mojo in their sticks.
Earlier some cynical NM writer cynically asked if the Nucks could claim their 20th win of the season. Turns out the Nucks could.
Nucks came out strong, got the first goal and then got behind because the 1st and 2nd periods are too long. Not 3rd periods, however, as the Nucks tied the game with a minute remaining.
Even better, in Lanky time, Tolo won the game!
A little too exciting for some tankerista sensitivities.
Always stay til the end when they play the Preds lol Nice comeback win boys! #Canucks 💙💚🏒

I had a good feeling about this one. I think this group is starting to get comfortable together. Talent may take a while but clicking will happen. #Canucks

Period 1
Canucks score first. Yay! Not only that, they were outplaying and outshooting the Preds. Obviously the better team.
#Canucks outshooting Preds 8 to 1... does that mean we're 8X better? Probably. Hopefully. Maybe. Or not.

Of course this was one of the too long periods. Just when we thought the Nucks were going to carry the lead into the inter, they didn't. Goal came Jost at the wrong moment.
Ah, dang! Tied at one.
-- Thursday
1-1 after 1, Nucks lead the shot count, 12-5.
Definitive proof. Periods are 2 minutes too long for the #Canucks. As ever, we can blame the NHL and their unfair rules.

Period 2
The Nucks are playing well. Are they playing well enough to endure a full 20 minute period in the ROG?
Of course not.
Still preserved the tie through 5 minutes... but then..
Suddenly the Nucks are trailing 2-1.
Jost the start the #Canucks were dreading

Jost was hattie hunting rest of the game - got close in the 3rd, but didn't bag it. Fortunately.
More stressful minutes passed and then we were in the ROG ritual zone.
The recipient of the ROG local kid gift was Nanaimo's Matt Wood - deflected off Öhgren and past Tolo.
#Canucks local kid ritual - give up fluke goal. Ohgroan.
— NucksMisconduct (@nucksmisconduct.bsky.social) March 12, 2026 at 8:27 PM
Ugh! Deflected in off Öhgren!
Heh - some happy family members, though.
-- Thursday
Preds lead 3-1 after 2.
#Canucks give up a couple 2nd period goals in the ROG. Turns out 2nd periods are 15 minute too long. As ever NHL rules at fault.

Period 3
Most resident tankers would have expected the game to be over, other than traditional Footey in our empty net.
However, apparently, with the other tanko teams winning their games, the Nucks were free to play. For it all.
Around the league: St Louis wins, Calgary wins, the Rangers win, Florida wins.
We're safe to win this one if we wanna.
-- Thursday
They wanna.
The new Rossi / Öhgren / Bess line was looking good all game. And creating chaos for Sorrow. Also scoring during the bouncing puck part of the play.
It's a 3-2 game with enough time for a Footey or 2.
And yet... with Tolo on the bench, the sharp passing Nucks in the final minute, Brock pulls defenders and passes to Ronnie who roofs it! Ronnie the Roofer!
#Canucks do it again vs the Preds. Last minute heroics lead to a Hronek tying goal. Nice to see.

3-3 and we're going to OT. And beyond!
OT
Both team play keep away until later in the time of overs. Petey had a good chance that he couldn't pot.
SO
Only a single goal was scored. And guess who scored? Not Petey, but DeBrusk.
DeBrusk DeScored during DeShootout #Canucks

Preds last hope to extend was Stamkos. Tolo said nolo. Nucks win 4-3 in Lanky time!
Nikita Blockerlopilo! #Canucks

A HOME WIN! AT HOME! WOOOOO!
OBSERVATIONS:
Nucks got their 7th win in a row... oops... mean their 7th win in the ROG. And didn't dent the tank.
Players of Interest:
#Canucks Kierszenstat of the Game: Brock Boeser is the 14th player in franchise history to record 100 multi-point regular season games.

The tank is off for tonight! Party in the basement! #Canucks

Did we miss Shortie? Yes we did! And he's calling the game and the highlights.
GAME STATS

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Rossi getting 3 points and the presser.
Brock scores!
Ronnie giving off some Capt'n Ronnie vibes.
Footsey staying with and keeping it together.
Nucks scored 3 goals in regulation. In the ROG! And the winning goal in Lanky time. Good win for the basement dwellers.
Nucks have fulfilled their TDL duties. Won a home game. We need anything more?
Nah... we're fine for the next 5 games.
