Great Tanking News! Last Place Team Defended The Basement - Unlike Their Net.
Good news... Didn't get shutout. Small victories consolations.
Here's what we learned:
Nucks played poorly and lost well. Isn't that all we can ask for?
Thus completes the stupid rhetorical question period.
Canucks outshot the Kraklings 28-25 and still lost. Out-goalied or outplayed by a team going to the 2nd season - whatever that is.
Tank you for watching.
Whelp, the kids are skating, which looks nice. The #Canucks are not a coherent team right now, though, so a lot of one-and-dones, misplaced passes, and short-circuited set plays. Not much practice time in a packed season, too. Curious to see if the extended home stretch can get them some.

Period 1
Canucks don't score. Seatown scores 2.
It's time to look to the future. And plead.
Look at this team, Gavin… What DON’T you see here? Yes… a Hero. It could be you, Gavin. It could be YOU. #Canucks

Period 2
Sure, the Nucks didn't play a perfect 1st period, unless you're gazing through the fuzzy tanker lens.
And we're not expecting miracles... just something better than nothing.
My only goal here is for the #Canucks to not be shut out. That's the only thing I care about.

And then out of the Nucking hockey abyss, a play is made. Ohgren scores while Teddy is getting in D-cords way. D-cord is very upset. Even though Teddy didn't kick or even touch the puck. Anyhow, while the Climate Emergency arena was screaming for an emergency review, we could relax just a little.
Holy shit we scored!

Even more amazing, the refs called a penalty on the Kraks.
This meant the Canucks got to try and score on their PP. A PP that hasn't scored a road goal in so long, the record is stored on 8-track magnetic tape in Westy's '73 beach wagon.
Of course the Nucks PP doesn't score, because that would mean they scored 2 goals in a single game - which they didn't.
FUN FACT: EP40 has a 72 game road PP goal drought. So much fun, Footey benches Petey later.
Whoa...petey with 72 road games without a powerplay goal... shoulda given him another million...

As expected, Canucks killer, Eberle, scores on a breakaway - a sneaky backhand shot, Lanky the shootout specialist, couldn't stop. Because... reasons.
Oh what a surprsie...eberly scores against the canucks.

Home team - if Seatown is your home - lead 3-1 after 2.
Period 3
We already know the Canucks won't score anymore goals and the Kraks will score 2 more - hindsight is like time travel, perfected.
All the Krakling goals from Eberle - on the PP and the Footey special - Eberle has the hattie.
TANKO! Woohoo!
Tanko! But switch M-Petey for Filip Hronek #Canucks

Tanko is taken away after he scores the Footey in the empty Nucking net - PP goal is credited to some other Krak. NHL doesn't want Nucks fans to have any fun in the basement on a cold night in February.
Not a great 3rd for the Nucks. It was the period that got away from them. Like the other 2 periods, but maybe worse.
Petey was sitting on the bench more than playing. Footey is going hard love or tough love or tough luck. Or something. NucksNation chatter was going all trade talk.
He wasn't traded. Neither was Kane.
Canucks defeated on the road 5-1. Not a defeat with dignity, but a defeat nonetheless - which keeps their frozen grip on 32nd secure. Keepin' them Blues out of our bottom feeding house!
Although...

OBSERVATIONS:
Nucks played a slow, discombobulated road game and lost. Can't ask for too much more. At least not until after the TDL. Then they can win 10 in a row and spoil the 1st pick hunt.
Players of Interest:
Will Garland match his jersey number in goals this season? He’s been stuck on 7 for more than 2 months #Canucks

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Öhgren scores a goal and wins a presser!
Footsey explaining the tough game, tough coach thing.
After this exhausting one game road trip, Nucks can head home for an exhausting 2 game home stand next month - starting on Monday in the ROG to face the Stars. The ones from Dallas, not the ones from Colo. Be weird if Myers is playing in that game - for Dallas. Enjoy the weird!
