Great Tanking News! Canucks Extend Fresh L-Streak At Home!
Bad news... Nucks almost tied and worse, Brock took a cheapshot to the head at the buzzer.
Here's what we learned:
Zeev is young player still learning about making bad mistakes at a bad time. Although... Zeev was pre-punished for future mistakes in the 1st period. Took a puck to his left eye. Started the 2nd sporting a shiner and a transparent face cage which might have contributed to his oopsies.
Also... vet Nucks D are still learning about mistakes in a league than punishes them with goals against.
Period 1
Nucks did not give up an early goal in the 1st. Even better, Nucks PK didn't give up an easy goal either.
Also, the Pens didn't score 5-v-5 or on their PP they didn't have.
That's not exactly correct.
Pens did score a goal. But was waved off due to successful offside challenge.
Nucks scored too. Wicked shot from Gnarland zipped past a screened Skinny. Apparently screened too well by Teddy. Ruled goalie interference. Nucks didn't challenge. Bummer as Teddy did not contact the goalie until after the puck was in the net.
WOOO! #Canucks get a goal waved off too! Take that fancy stats!

That sucked. There was very minor interference but Skinner was not saving that shot no matter what. #Canucks

Period ends in the 0-0 tie. That's not so bad. Shots were tied at 8 apiece.
Period 2
Nucks are back to best skipping 2nd periods in ROG.
Pens get on the board 1st in the 2nd. This was the result of Zeev's 1st mistake - pinching and not recovering. Myers followed up by not taking the 2-on-1 threat seriously as he possibly thought DeBrusk had both of the two covered.
1-0 Pens.
ROG Rookie Welcome Wagon and/or the Nucks decided it was time to add some local colour. Coquitlam kid puts a deflection past Lanky while D-Petey was having a learning moment about letting a teenager get position on you in front of the net.
Wooo! Local kid scores! For the wrong team! #Canucks

2-0 Pens.
Kindel's family in the box having a great time. So great, why not more for the family.
And another learning moment for Zeev too. So much fun for everyone.
Local kid scores again! How exciting, #Canucks!

Well that's a helluva way for Ben Kindel to break his goal drought... welcome home! The Kindels will be partying in Vancouver tonight! #Penguins #Canucks

Nucks down 3-nothing to the Pens. Seems an oddly familiar score line... oh right, last game Nucks gave up 3 before getting on the board.
However with only 3 mins remaining, best save the crowd pleasing comeback for the next period.
#Canucks have now allowed 67 goals in the second period this season. They allowed 76 in 82 games last season.

As soon as I heard there was a Lower Mainland rookie on the Pens, I knew he was gonna score. Man, this #canucks team is a tough watch.

Nucks trail 3-0 after 2. Trailed in shots 13-10 as well.
Period 3
The good news, Nucks didn't give up an early goal in the period. Or any. So that's good.
Nucks are pushing and Kane is upping his trade value. Drives around the Skinned net, for the wrap around and puck bounces around to Petey, who takes a whack. Bounces back to DeBrusk who lofts the puck into the net, ending the bouncing puck contest just how we like it.
Woooooo! DeBrusk scores his 2nd 5-v-5 of the game... er... season! #Canucks

Historic Petey apple too.
#Canucks Kierszenstat of the Game: Elias Pettersson 290th career assist ties him with Dennis Kearns for the ninth most in franchise history

Nucks trail 3-1 with plenty of time to go.
With 6 mins remaining, Ronnie's point shot deflects off Ohgren, then off Teddy's shin and in.
Wooo! Blueger is our new supastar forward!
Blueger trending for a 65 goal season if he played 82...
... Wait, that was 80%...he's trending for a 50 goal season.

Nucks within a footey of the tie.
#Canucks score! 🚨 Ok boys, that’s enough, now. #Tank

No footey was scored. No Nucks goal tied the game. But Brock took a nasty headshot at the buzzer.
Oh crap. That's a shoulder or arm to Brock's head. #Canucks

Pens win 3-2 in a game the Nucks lost with grace and rookies.
OBSERVATIONS:
Nucks might have won, if only they could start on time... and maybe not give up 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd.
Players of Interest:
Well, another sort of respectable loss... was a good back half of the third period.

Home comeback is the new comeback theme?
Are we intentionally practicing comebacks for the rest of this season? #Canucks

Just practicing, not perfecting. 🤨

Fun Selke Petey fact:
#Canucks Elias Pettersson played 8:03 tonight against Sidney Crosby at even strength. In those minutes, Vancouver held a 5-2 scoring chances advantage and won the high danger scoring chances battle 3-1. Crosby had 0 points and 0 shots tonight. Pettersson had an assist.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Shortie and Dave to cover another almost comeback win.

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Petey sounding like a menthol cough drop influencer.
Teddy with his 2nd goal in as many games.
Read his lips. Voice is shot. DeBrusk spreading the cold virus to the pressroom. Smart move Nucks PR.
Footsey getting wound up about mistakes in a game of mistakes.
Good game. Pretty decent loss.
Next scheduled ROG loss is on Tuesday against another local kid and his shark pool. Enjoy the skid while it lasts. Thank puck for the Olympic break.
