NOT Great Tanking News! Canucks Snapped The Streak!
Better news... Nucks got their MOST important WIN of 2026! The only one, but still...
Here's what we learned:
Blueger was the key or the lost key to the lost season. Who knew?
It's been a while since the #Canucks looked this dynamic in a game. And all it took was trading their leading goal scorer AND their #1 defenceman.
— Lachlan Irvine (@lachinthecrease.com) January 21, 2026 at 8:43 PM
Turns out they were just missing Blueger. π€

Maybe it was Footey's call out of the vets last game. Or maybe the Nucks couldn't lose every game in the ROG. Nah... but it was a banner raising night in the ROG.
Sadly @tommykippes.bsky.social isn't posting on here any more, this is gold. Raise the banner #Canucks

WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Period 1
While the Nucks started strong, the Caplets started stronger and got the home team to play from Myer's summer cottage.
Sassy got a hold on a Cap or rather a Cap got a hold of Sassy's stick and getting your stick back from a Capper is a penalty. Max to the box. On the PK MPetey high-sticked Wilson, only 3 months late.
Because the Nucks PK killed a 5-v-3 last game, we expected them to the do the same. And didn't.
And worse, couldn't kill the remaining odd-man attack. Cappies up 2-0 mid-first. Ouch!
However... unlike last game where the Nucks sagged after giving up an easy PP goal, this Teddy-driven team got on the their no-quit horses and got a goal back.
Kampf forechecked a lax Cap, passed to Brock, who bent a knee and shot a Brocket up top where great Brock shots go to score.
OH MY BESSIE! #Canucks are winning!* * winning a Brock goal.
— NucksMisconduct (@nucksmisconduct.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 7:34 PM
And the vets, including Kane ain't done. Kane puts a shot on net and deflects off a Capi skate into the net.
Well, hey!
Keep adding that value, Evander! Send the last two games out there with a reminder of his playoff exploits, and the bidding starts at a second!
-- Thursday
2-2 tie!
Even better, Nucks take a late penalty and the 0% Nucks PK bumped it up to 33.33%.
Boeser scores AND we kill a penalty in the same period?? What strange world is this???
-- Twitch
Nice Nucks comeback. And if we slip on our unbiased sandals of wet coast hockey, Canucks were outplaying the visitors from the worst hockey city in their nasty country.
Period 2
Nucks aren't stopping, aren't playing for the tie. They want more. So do we.
Canucks get an early 5-v-3 PP of their own.
It's a 5-on-3 kind of day apparently #Canucks
— Lachlan Irvine (@lachinthecrease.com) January 21, 2026 at 8:12 PM
Canucks don't score, because... reasons. Reasons like it's better to beat them 5-on-5, since the Cappulent, are top 5 for 5-on-5 goals.
With a great breakout from his own zone, Willi sends the puck behind the Caplets net. Nucks forecheckers pounce on the befuddled Cappis, Brock pushes his check and the puck towards Kampf, who passes out front to DOC, who whipped a puck soufflΓ© past Tomie before you can say "tasty".
Not that we haven't seen the Nucks get a lead in the 2nd in the ROG... or maybe because we haven't, we're excited to be leading!
Thank you O'Connor π¨π¨π¨ π #canucks take a 3/2 lead!!! πππ
— CZ π¨π¦ π πΊπ¦ (@choiceznewz.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 8:21 PM
KΓ€mpf with TWO points this game? Wild!
-- Thursday
The Nucks "We're Taking Calls On Everyone" call line must have been heating up.
Speaking of heat. Willi sets up a beauty 2-on-1 with Ronnie and Jake. Ronnie scores!
It's 4-2 Canucks! We're WINNING!
That was⦠AMAZING!!! #Canucks
— CrankyCanucksFan π¨π¦π (@crankycanucksfan.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 8:31 PM
More like FLY Hronek, he took off like a rocket for that odd man rush. π #Canucks
— Lachlan Irvine (@lachinthecrease.com) January 21, 2026 at 8:32 PM
We're winning! Leading 4-2 after 2! It's a Xmas miracle! A month late.
Getting out of the second with a lead! That's a win!
-- Thursday
A 2-goal lead for the #Canucks. I believe this event is mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
— Steve Burgess (@steveburgess53.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 8:32 PM
It's Wednesday Hockey Fiction Night in the ROG!
I've seen enough. The #Canucks rebuild was a success and should consider a push for playoffs.
— π¨π¦ Trent Leith π³οΈβπ (@trentleith.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 8:38 PM
Period 3
Nucks, or at least DOC jumps all over the Capipillars right out the gate. Fired 3 shots on net in the 1st minute. Got a crossbar which will go on his resume. Or in his trophy case.
Anyhow... Nucks uncharacteristically are protecting the guts of the ice. Traitor Toc would be proud. Probably in violation of some obscure Footsey rule, but vets and kids aren't letting one of the NHL's most deadly teams from the slot, get there.
It's been a while since the #Canucks looked this dynamic in a game. And all it took was trading their leading goal scorer AND their #1 defenceman.
— Lachlan Irvine (@lachinthecrease.com) January 21, 2026 at 8:43 PM
As the period got to the final 4, it was time for a Footey - on the other foot as the Caplets pulled their goalie and went 6-on-4.
Unfortunately, they scored and made the final 2 minutes of the game far more stressful for us than required.
Nucks lead 4-3.
Don't panic #Canucks... we can do that for you.
— NucksMisconduct (@nucksmisconduct.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 9:34 PM
Surely the #Canucks won't blow this right
— Lachlan Irvine (@lachinthecrease.com) January 21, 2026 at 9:35 PM
As much as he had a bunch of time to line it up, that was a speculative shot from MP3. Thankfully it didn't cost them the game, just a goal against.
— Trevor WH π¨π¦π³οΈβπ he/him (@elvis15.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 10:01 PM
Gnarland almost got the Footey while knocking the puck out of the zone. Still, the Nucks kept clearing the puck and kept the Capitulations at bay.
Nucks win their 1st game of 2026, 4-3! Woooooooooo!
Streak busted!
WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!! #Canucks
— CrankyCanucksFan π¨π¦π (@crankycanucksfan.bsky.social) January 21, 2026 at 9:38 PM
Ever appreciative of a game with a pulse, the ROG erupted!
A standing ovation at Rogers Arena as the #Canucks snap their 11 game losing streak

OBSERVATIONS:
Nucks broke the new loss streak record. Thank, Pucky! And Teddy!
Players of Interest:
And Teddy? He looked like he hadn't missed months and months.
Canucks have a perfect record with Teddy Blueger in the lineup this season (3-0)!
LOL! Two of those wins are against Washington, and the Canucks won both 4-3.-- Thursday
As Kent said it, this win was great for everyone's mental health.
The boys had the extra jump, they almost made me forgot how bad they can be when they put their minds to it. Did you notice what I just said?

This single win didn't evict the Canucks from their well-furnished basement suite. So no harm done.
We can savour this one game win streak for a couple days.
Friday what's-his-name's brothers are in the ROG - to help the Nucks start another streak? Tune in to find out.
