Great News! Canucks Almost Got Lanky Time In The ROG!
Bad news... Nucks may never win at home. Ever, ever, ever again.
Here's what we learned: While the ROG is the toughest rink the Nucks have to play in, we won't have to watch anymore ROG losses ever again. Or for a couple weeks.
Period 1
This game started really well. As well as it could considering the visiting team.
While the Nucks or just M-Petey get in double penalty trouble - a team with a local Vancouver kid with family and friends in the stands watch him score the opening goal of the game - a foreshadowing we couldn't see yet because, Ouch!
why is it always a 1st time or some kind of legacy goal scored against the #canucks

Good for the kid, I guess. Not great for us... because foreshadowing and stuff.
1-0 Beantown after 1. Nucks outshoot the beanies 6-5.
Period 2
In the 2nd, the period gets started with some fancy footwork. Ronnie puts a shot off the angled skate that Petey had angled effortlessly for a perfect deflection without any of that gaudy kicking motion.
1-1 tie because not even the video minions at NHL Game Control could overturn it.
Well we can't score with our sticks but the soccer is paying off. #Canucks

Again the Nucks get into more penalty trouble. While Sassy in relaxing in Chez Myers, the Boos cut short his stay with the assistance of M-Petey. Or his soccer skate prowess. Blue paint own goal.
2-1 Boooooo-urns.
Shortly after, or 10 tense minutes later, the Nucks get their 3rd or 10th PP.
And while it's rare for lightening to hit the same way twice, soccer goals are on the field of play.
Ronnie blasts a shot on net, hits the defender's skate to whip past Swayingman into the net. No kicking motion was detected with this goal, so it stands.
As sweet as it was to get a foot of payback, Ronnie's goal held a special sweetness...
Hronek ties Hughes with 3 goals this season #Canucks

Thus ends the scoring for the rest of regulation. 2-2 after 2. Nucks outshoot B-town 16-7.
Period 3
Nothing about scoring happened in this period. Lots of pressure and chances. Mainly from the Nucks... Sherwood had 8 SA and 1 on goal. DeBrusk had a for sure, for sure goal, that Swayed off a skate to stay out.
So far the #Canucks are following my gameplan. Now just need to get Lank to the shootout.

Wooo! 5 long minutes away from Lanky time! #Canucks Also... another loser point in the ROG. Put 2 of those together, it's a win!

OT
Nucks got within 19 seconds of Lanky time. However, according to stupid league rules, 5 minutes is 5 minutes. Jerks.
And now the shadow looms in the fore as local the Minten kid uses his mitts to put the puck past Lank.
Booo-urns win 3-2 in the ROG.
#canucks should just put 3 defencemen out for overtime

As soon as Boeser jumped on for his last shift I knew we were losing. Put on your slowest worst minus player in 3 on 3. Couldn't get a breakaway if he had a 10 ft head start. #Canucks

OBSERVATIONS:
Nucks were entertaining most of the game. Working really hard - dominating play most times. Except of course Kane, who doesn't have to work much - coasts around the ice looking back to smile at Footsey.
Players of Interest:
Almost made it to Lanky time... but for greedy local kid. So #Canucks

Their Vancouver boy clearly wants the Canucks to get the first overall pick this season. Now they're going to have to go lose against Winnipeg.

Shortie and Dave in the ROG calling yet another (expected) loss - on HNIC. So fun!

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Ronnie scores and gets a presser. Probably doesn't like that equation.
Footsey rolling with the home momentum - all the way into the playoffs! Bench water filled with psychedelics?
With our spot in the mezzanine floor of the basement secured with the ROG stand, we can look forward to another road winning streak next week.
Nucks are meeting up with their kissing cousins on Tuesday. Or rather, grieving cousins. And sadly, the Sabres 10 game win streak was broken tonight. Our old Brendan Gaunce helped the BJs win his 2nd goal of the season. So Canucks. So Sabres. So so.
So... we're back to think, tank.
