Great News! Nucks didn't lose a player.
Bad news... Lost game. And a player we would like to lose...but didn't.
Nucks are back home in the ROG, getting some rest and practice time before losing 4-2 to the Stars. Oettinger out-dueled Lanky. Dang it.
Nucks out-played, out-shot the Stars and were rewarded with another loss... thanks to Kane and Garland messing up late in the 3rd. But we're not there yet.
In the 1st, Stars score 1st. But Karlsson scores a beauty. But then Robertson scores from his fav ridiculous spot. Also ties Kief season total with 12 goals. We'd hoped Kief would fix that, but not tonight.
However, the Nucks PP scored. Petey and DeBrusk combine on over-powering Oettinger to tie up the game. 2-2 after 1. Nucks win the shot clock 10-8.
In the 2nd, Nucks controlled play and shot many shots and the Stars star goalie, who stopped all the shots - tottaly robbed Petey. So many Nucking chances, so little result. Still tied after 2, with Nucks again winning the shot volume war, 15-6.
Nucks play well through most of the 3rd... but mid-period with the Nucks pressing, a little missed-passisness causes some Nucking scrambliness on zone entry as big stiff MacEachern loses the board battle and no Nucks can recover as a Stars 4th liner breaks past Huggie to score on Lanky.
3-2 Stars with 9 to go. No problem. Nucks can apply more pressure. Unfortunately, Footey deploys Kane as part of the pressure. Kane fails us, then Garland can't keep possession, his stick and performs a pick on Huggie. Rantanen breaks in with only Brock to spin around, Big Bert style. Spins and lofts a backhander past Lanky.
4-2 Stars. Nucks lose in regulation at home for only the 6th time all season. Also... only won 3 times at home all season.
But still... was an entertaining game. Nucks played as well as they have all year. It's just that this roster isn't good enough to compete for the full 60 against a good team that can. That and Nucks got Demko'd by Oettinger.
Was really hoping for the 1 minute comeback again #Canucks

Yeah, that was a great game. But the Nucks dinna have Suter anymore. Thanks Alvin.
Effort was tremendous, but a lack of finish plus a top tier goalie who was on his game all proved too much for the #Canucks

OBSERVATIONS:
Nucks PP scored! On 1 of 5 chances. Wasted a great 5-on-3, as expected. Still Petey was a force all game... just wish he'd buried a couple more.
#Canucks Elias Pettersson has nine points in his last six games. That is the same amount of points that J.T. Miller has in 20 games this year.

#Canucks Star vs Stars 1. Elias Pettersson #40. 6 shots, 24 time in ice, 76% face off wins. 1 goal. EP40 resurgence is so absolute that it comes with a sense of mystery.

About Kane...
Rantanen only scores that goal because Evander Kane lost the puck twice on zone entries as the #Canucks were trying to pull Lankinen for the extra attacker. At what point does Foote stop putting Kane on the ice in these key situations?

Kane had the puck twice inside the Stars blue line and lost it. He put Garz in a tough spot. Like I said, seen this many times #Canucks

Allvin should lose his job over Evander Kane. #Canucks

Nucks are now 2 games under 500 and holding down the 28th spot in the league ranking. Is that a big deal? Depends. If the Nucks want to get to the 2nd season, well... not trending too good. Closer to getting early 1st round pick... which JR/PA will trade away anyhow.
A great game by the #Canucks with lots of hustle and great work along the boards and through the neutral zone. With a bit more centre depth I think maybe we get points. We're so close, but still so far. I believe.

GAME STATS

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Petey scores - gets a presser!
Räty sussing out Oett.
Footey talking about one of the best games of the season. Which they lost, btw.
Good Nucking effort. Not quite good enough.
Doesn't matter. What matters is getting more practice time and absolutely winning a MUST WIN over Cowtown on Sunday. Unless... 'Ethical Tank' plan. It's a thing now.
