Good News... 1 point out of 2.
Bad news... Lose Game and possibly Ronnie.
We weren't too optimistic about this 3 game eastern gulag road trip. But after hearing Rutherford's comments today, we felt even worse. Turns out they blew getting Suter back - through a combo of incompetence, arrogance and poor excuses communicated poorly. When you consider the millions and millions spent on these hockey brainiacs and how stupid and arrogant they can be, can only say... So Canucks.
Also... no rebuild. They can tinker and keep looking for a 2C until the sun goes nova. What's so weird is Alvin, according to Rutherford, has spent all his time time on the phone calling other GMs to snag a center. And yet, didn't have enough time ALL SUMMER to call Suter's agent and tell him Canucks were offering longer term and more money than St Louis. Weird.
Coaches preach details. Management too busy for that. Have other things to work on.
Excuses. Excuses is how the brilliant JR/PA team are building a contender. Nice work if you can get it.
Anyhow, Nucks are on the road with the Run What Ya Brung group. Excepting what the Faeries are keeping in their vast reserve, including Quinn, because, of course.
Game started well for the Nucks. Surprisingly.
Sassoon gets a pass from MacEachern who is busy distracting a Canes D. Sassy zips into the slot and blasts a perfect shot 5-hole.
Nucks lead 1-0 in very unfriendly territory. Lanky gets a shutout and Nucks win 1-0. Thanks for reading.
However... Canes comeback to tie it a few minutes later. And untie it a minute later on their PP. Happened so fast. Lose a draw on the PK, get a GA.
We don't mind... NHL officials viewing the game through the GaryLens of Distortion.
Yah... Keandre Miller shouldn't get a Xchecking penalty for hammering EP40 but M. Pettersson deserved one for that hit on Jarvis? F that... and then #91 takes a penalty.
PERFECT
...

While Kane is stuffed in the bin where he can't hurt the Nucks, Canes are ready for their next PP goal. Except... Petey reads the drop pass, intercepts it and whips the puck past the startled Canes goalie. 2-2 tie. Wooo!
Vintage sneaky Pete short handed goal!
-- Ripper
2-2 after 1. A period where the Nucks were absorbing wave after wave of pressure. Outshot 8-4.
In the 2nd, while Nucks are finally getting familiar with the other end of the ice, possibly too familiar as the Canes are applying even more relentless pressure and shots. Shots that Lanky is resisting even more. Pressure meets goaltending.
Even better, Nucks get a PP. Since the stingy refs will only give you 2, no matter what (more later), Nucks PP needs to make it count. And they do. Some nifty setup work from Bess and Petey and a high difficulty shot from Gnarly, Nucks lead 3-2.
That's an outstanding finish by Conor Garland on a cross-body one-timer. A regular one-timer is hard enough, cross-body one-timers are incredibly difficult. #Canucks

Maybe it's easier if your body is really small? 🙂

Nucks lead 3-2 after 2, despite getting outshot 18-8.
Can the Nucks keep the once safest lead in hockey in the 3rd? Or as we like to say, can Kane not screw it up?
No and no.
Kane receives a big clean check at center ice. Not a penalty. Not smart enough to realize Nucks have used up their quota last period, stops playing and starts whining to the ref. Canes come into the Nucks zone on their free PP and score.
We're not angry with Kane. But sorta LIVID with Kane, JR and the rest of the mealy-mouthed management!
That goal is ALL on kane and him being a stupid fucking douchenozzle.

Evander fucking Kane started that Canes goal by throwing everyone off with his big balls stupidity #Canucks

Selfish and bad at hockey - thx Rutherford
— islandgal (@islandgal.bsky.social) November 14, 2025 at 6:17 PM
Thanks Aquilini too! I'm done with Rutherford too though, I don't trust his words.

Yeah, when Kane was their ONLY move in the off season.... I was done
— islandgal (@islandgal.bsky.social) November 14, 2025 at 6:22 PM
That replay of Kane being a fucking idiot as the #Canucks get scored on. Money well spent, eh Patrick? Fucking dolts.

Why couldn't JR/PA have had 'communications' issue with Kane's agent rather than Suter's? Idjits.
— NucksMisconduct (@nucksmisconduct.bsky.social) November 14, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Yes, the other Nucks blew their coverage completely, but they were distracted by Kane's antics too. And probably the posts on the sky as well.
Tied 3-3 with lots of time to go.... too much time and too many shots. With nearly half the period to go, so far in the game, Canes had 75 shot attempts, 29 on goal. Nucks had blocked 30 and the game ain't over.
Thanks to the stellar play of Lanky and the trash officiating, this game is going to OT. Without Ronnie.
What? Yeah... seems he took an elbow to his noggin and can't play no more.
There’s your NHL!! Refs miss the blatant elbow to the head BUT the spotters send him off for concussion protocol. Why did they send him off…oh he took an elbow to the head! You can’t make this 💩up!! #Canucks

Filip Hronek left the game after this elbow from Andrei Svechnikov. “Adam Foote says he was pulled by the concussion spotter” 😳🤦🏽♂️ #Canucks | #GoCanucksGo | #NHL

OT
As per their training, Nucks gain possession of the puck in OT and never give it up. Until the last minute or so. Of course, unlike the Nucks, Canes shoot the puck when they have it. Lanky stops all their shots, until EP40 loses the faceoff and worse loses the battle on the blueline to that A-ho, who dekes around Pete and scores.
Canes win 4-3 in the last 30 seconds of OT.
OBSERVATIONS:
Nucks absorbed the insane shot pressure and got a point. Lanky was amazing. Still stings, because of Kane's temper and Pete's weary effort in his last FO of the night. So frustrating as he was great in the dot all game.
Meanwhile, the fans on bluesky have solved the Kane problem, even if Footey and Alvin can't.
Waive Kane. Either he gets claimed or wakes up with some Fraser Valley time. It was a risk to give up an asset and take on Kane. Waiving him isn't that much of a risk. Expiring deal. Bring Lekkerimaki back up. #canucks

Petey was clutch all game, until he de-clutched.
Pettersson, loses the puck after the Canucks' long possession in overtime. Then Pettersson is the one to get deked out by Aho wins the game for the Canes. It's just tough to see. #Canucks

He did enough good this game but, yeah, that was rough

Meanwhile the thrifty shooting Nucks were perhaps a little too thrifty against a shaky goalie.
- #Canucks had 27 shot attempts through 17 shots
- #Canes had 89 shot attempts through 38 shots
🙄🤦🏽♂️ Terrible.
-- Canucks Watcher - Bluesky
Maybe be a little more aggessive in OT and shoot! Shoot to win!
#Canucks lose in overtime after several minutes of actively not trying to win in overtime. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

Oh well... take the point and head south.
Look, in my heart, I had this listed as a scheduled loss. This #Canucks team taking a point from #Carolina was well beyond my expectations. On to the next.

Meanwhile... how will Lanky hold up?
Gonna guess Jiri Patera is in next game. He's probably gonna play one of them, so let's give Lankinen the break - he earned it tonight.
-- Thursday
However... the National Betting League is pushing us over the line.
4 out of 4 tie games tonight. The game management is out of control. I know Bettman wants games close to keep fans tuned in all game to keep advertisers happy but it is making the games as predictable as the WWE. #Canucks #NHL

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
On the road with Shortie and Dave!
Full OT. But for a wee blueline bobble, would've been Lanky time. Bummer, Pete.
GAME STATS

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Sassy gettin' the looks.
Petey played a great game until that wee bobble.
Footey getting the JR'd excuses primed - learning moments?
A loser point. That's no so bad in Rutherford's home town. The one where Franny went to beg him to take the Nucks out of Benning mediocrity into a new era of mediocrity.
Next up for Nucks, a crazy trip south to the crazy sun and sand land of flipflop hockey. Playing the Bolts on Sunday afternoon in T-bay. Enjoy the crazy!
