Perma-stickie comment:
Canucks gotta fix their special teams or die.

Good News... Huggie gets 3 points.
Bad news... Lose Demmers. Again. Also... lose game.
We had a gentleman's agreement with the Faeries. Take a player - get a win. Not a great trade, but when they violate the sacred trust, we are more angry than ever before.
Game started well for the Nucks. Which means they gave up the first goal to old man Toews skate.
Old guy earning his keep on the prairies.

However, the Nucks come back to score. Huggie sends a pass up ice and...
WOOOO KEIF!!!!
-- Twitch
Then the once mighty Nucks PP goes to work and DeBrusk gets the goal.
Nucks lead 2-1. For at least 2 minutes.
Then the Nucks PK goes to work and gives up a goal as Sherwood clears the puck directly to Morrisey, then screens Demko.
Worse, the Jets score again as D-Petey can't take his man and Willander can't clear the blue paint. And Demmers is finished for the night.
Down 3-2 and a goalie at the end of the 1st.
LMAO no Demko for the second period. Good thing they were totally transparent about his "maintenance days" instead of going out of their way to outright lie to the entire fanbase, otherwise this has the potential to blow up in their faces.... #Canucks

In the 2nd, no goals were scored. However, mid-period, Huggie takes a penalty. And doesn't go to the box. Instead he goes down the tunnel with an apparent shoulder injury. Eeeek!
The Nucks PK, mercifully, doesn't give up a goal, as you may have heard before.
Through the miracle of motivation, Huggie returns just in time for a Nucks PP. That didn't score, as you might have guessed. But at least the Faeries didn't take both Demmers and Huggie.
Huggie returns! Great rejoicing! But no #Canucks pp goal. 1 out of 2 ain't so bad.

However.... late 2nd, O'Connor takes a high sticking penalty, behind the play. For reasons?
Nucks PK, again, kills off the 1st minute and doesn't give up a goal. As you may have heard. Thanks to the 20 minute shutout performance of Lanky.
However, in the carry-over in the 3rd, Jets PP scores as Vilardi spins and lofts a high backhand past Lanky and it's 4-2. Sure that shot was all-world... but Nucks PK - 31st worst in the league and trending down - gave Gabe too much time and space.
Jets are cruising and keeping Nucks at bay. Until the Nucks get a late PP. A self-made PP with Lanky pulled. Nucks put the pressure on. Huggie sets up Petey to shoot. His shot is blocked and rebound is Brocketed past Hellbutt.
Pettersson actually shot the puck when he didn't really have a shooting lane, and the #Canucks end up scoring. Imagine that.

With 90 seconds remaining, Nucks try to get setup for the tying goal... but... the puck goes the other way into the empty net. Jets win 5-3.
OBSERVATIONS:
The loss wasn't unexpected - Jets hadn't won in 3 games. And Vancouver is renown around the league for busting visiting L-streaks.
However, losing Demmers, was to be expected. Dammit!
My biggest takeaway from this game? Further proof that Thatcher Demko is a brilliant but fragile goaltender, whose value is decreasing with every injury. #Canucks

The #Canucks really did themselves and Demko no favours with the whole 'preventive maintenance' thing. Instead of just admiting he's dealing with a minor injury, they backed themselves into the corner of bringing him back sooner than they should've.

Is it too late to trade for Arturs Silovs? #Canucks

Be nice if the Nucks PK could be climb, gnaw and grit their way into the mushy middle of PK performance.
C'mon PK. Cannot continue being this bad. Change the personnel. #Canucks

#canucks can't kill penalties, their only hope is taking no penalties every game.

Once again, the Nucks PK leads the league - in lowest success rate with 66.7% - Ugh. Although another team that ain't making the playoffs this season has the best PK at 89.6% - the Sabres.
M-Petey hasn't been good on the PK.
Take #29 off and put #5 in... what he lacks in size/reach he'll make up for in smarts/skating. M. Pettersson has been lead footed on the PK to the tune of 13GA this season... horrible.

On the bright side... while we still have him... Quinn keeps on setting records.
#Canucks Kierszenstat of the Game: With his power play assist earlier in the game, Quinn Hughes ties Toni Tanti for the 5th most power play points in franchise history. Tanti had 185 in 531 games while Hughes is at 185 in 447 games.

That shot of Hughes on the bench says it all. Dude has to be wondering why he’s putting himself through this for these results on this team. #canucks

Game Notes from the Sky:
#Canucks vs Jets 1. Quinn Hughes doing Hughes things… 2. Sherwood, love the consistency of his game. 3. EP40, 2nd game in a row that Elias is…well different. Game Note: Chytil and Demko careers might be on the same trajectory.

GAME STATS

COMMENTING OUT LOUD
Lanky stepping in the crease again.
Quinn is all good. Phew.
DeBrusk with DePresser.
Footey getting the weasel words ready for prime time.
3 points out of 6, makes this a break-even home stand - sure, it's 3 out of 8, but stop counting!
However, losing Demko again to injury 'not related to his maintenance days' just makes you sad and wonder if the management team really has a clue about Canucks hockey. On HNIC, smarmy PA claimed he's happy with this roster. Assume he included the roster playing for the Faeries. Kane is no Suter. If Suter were still here the Nucks PK wouldn't be sitting in the basement waiting for the water to subside. Imagine they hadn't sent Arty to party in Pitts. Sigh.
Back on the road for our road-happy Nucks. Visiting the Canes on Friday. Will Demmers be going on the trip or will the brilliant hockey minds behind the Nucks bench keep playing Lanky until he takes a break with the Faeries too?
Stay tuned.
Since it's 11-11, seems numerically apropos to give a shout out to k.d. madigan for reminding us of...

Great and disturbing read. When you're not feeling enough Nucks history misery.
