No Tanking News! Last Place Not Secured. Oh well...
Good news... Brock scores at hattie! Teddy pots a couple. Pettersson scores GWG!
Here's what we learned:
Canucks won the 1st period! And the 2nd period! And the the 3rd too! No, really.
Cue the April Fool's guffaw.
And yet the joke was on the Avs - the NHL's top team.
Fifty-eight points separate the two teams.
I mean, there are upsets, and then there's whatever the hell happened in Colorado tonight.

#Canucks put EIGHT goals on the board tonight. Never mind the opponent, that’s a bloody miracle vs. anyone!

Tanks off!
#Canucks rebuild is over

About time. Trade the picks!

Period 1
5 goals were scored in this starting period. Nucks with 3.
Sassy back in the line up and scores 29 seconds in. Good to be back. Assists from Ronnie and Zeev.
Minute later, Big Mack scores his 50th of the season... because... of course.
FUN FACT: (at time of his goal) Nucks top 3 goal scorers had 51 combined. Anyhow... better to spread the scoring around, right?
Right. As Teddy scores a shortie to restore the lead.
Even better, Nucks PP scores too! So much special teams specializing! Rossi to Petey to goal mouth scoring DeBrusk.
Special teams battle, please! That's Vancouver's best hope.
-- Thursday
Nucks leading 3-1. Followed by the Nucks leading 3-2 after 1. Not just outscoring the Avs, but outshooting them 12-7. Exciting!
As much as I enjoyed that 1st period, I know how 2nd periods go for the #Canucks
— kitsilanojaycam.bsky.social (@kitsilanojaycam.bsky.social) April 1, 2026 at 6:20 PM
Taking a one goal lead into the 2nd might seem like the unsafest lead in hockey.
Period 2
You may have heard that 2nd periods are not the Nucks luckiest period. At home or on the road.
A mile high 2nd period operates at a different level. As do the Canucks.
Avs are pushing and not covering for rush chances. We know what that's like.
Sassy skates up ice, while Teddy heads down main street to catch the Sassy pass and put the puck between the wickets. 4-2 Canucks.
TEDDY BOY! W00T!
Second point for Sasson tonight, too.
-- Thursday
Meanwhile, Nucks tallest addition is putting pucks and himself on net.
I just got home to see Douglas Fir in a net front scrum with what looked like a bunch of little kids in Nordiques shirts. #Canucks
— Ryan avgtraveller (@viewfromtherog.bsky.social) April 1, 2026 at 6:55 PM
Nucks control going into the Avs zone. Öhgren keeps a defender at bay, passes to Willi - snaps a pass to Brock, scores into the nearly open net. Wooo! 5-2 Nucks!
WOW! FIVE - TWO VANCOUVER!
-- Thursday
What is this lofty mojo?
#Canucks 5 goals before the half way point in the game? Someone snap their fingers and bring me back…
— JDavid (@jdavidh.bsky.social) April 1, 2026 at 6:59 PM
It just keeps getting better. For us.
Brocks skates over the Avs blueline and casually wrists a laser past the blackeyed-wood.
Gooooooooeeeeeellll!!!!!! Boeser brings the boo birds out in Colorado. #Canucks
— Ryan avgtraveller (@viewfromtherog.bsky.social) April 1, 2026 at 7:06 PM
6-2 Canucks! Over the best team in the NHL! In the middle of a 2nd period! It's mass hysteria across NucksNation. And mild panic on the Avs bench as Blackwood is replaced by Wedgewood.
However, Avs comeback to score. To score while Lanky is interfered with. Footey challenges, because it's obvious goalie interference. Lank is in his crease. Colo player is in the crease. Keeps Lanky from using his right pad to stop the puck.
#NHL needs to eliminate goaltender interference challenges because clearly there is no standard and nothing makes sense. #Canucks

Doesn't matter. Goal stands. Nucks worst PK in the league kills it off. We're so winning!
Canucks lead the best in the league 6-3 after 2. Not making it up.
Period 3
With the curse of 2nd periods left gasping for breath, the Avs who are familiar with playing high or something, start the inevitable pushback. Score just 14 seconds into the 3rd. Gulp.
And score again. And again.
6-6 tie at some lofty heights. We're not nervous.
As a #Canucks fan, you can only laugh or cry at this point. I’m choosing to laugh. Oh my goodness….

Whatever happens next, this game is...
THIS IS A GAME!

This game rules. Who cares who wins hahaha #Canucks

Nucks aren't collapsing. They pushback, get behind Blackwood's replacement's net and win the board battle. Brock whips a pass out front to Pettersson storming down the guts or the rails, or the guts of the rails. Pettersson shoots and scores! GWG!
Wait… MARCUS Pettersson??? #Canucks
— CrankyCanucksFan 🇨🇦🏒 (@crankycanucksfan.bsky.social) April 1, 2026 at 8:05 PM
What a bizzaro world. MP29 of all people. Normally he can’t hit the broad side of a barn door. 🤦♂️ #canucks

OTHER PETTERSSON!
EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING!
-- Thursday
M-Petey is the game-winning hero were waiting for. To score his 2nd goal of the season.
Nucks get a late PP, but don't score... so it's mile high Footey time. Avs pull their replacement goalie and are pressuring like they think they're a high scoring team. They are, just not high enough on this night.
M-Petey blocks MacKinnon's shot and puck goes to Brock who pots the Footey against Footey's old team. Hattie for Bessie!
Brock scores a Footey against the Avs in Footey's old barn. How poetic, #Canucks
— NucksMisconduct (@nucksmisconduct.bsky.social) April 1, 2026 at 8:50 PM
Canucks defeat the #1 team 8-6 in their own high place. Woooooo!
almost thought how beautiful this game was. But then the Abs tied, so I am changing that to "how amazing this game was".
Any time we score 8 goals in Denver, that must be a wonderful time in Canucksland.
Best game of the year!
Last time the Canucks scored 8 goals against the Avs in Denver was waaaaaayback in 2009 - when the Sedinery was heating up.
OBSERVATIONS:
#Canucks score 8 goals and beat the best team in the NHL!

We all expected the Avs to score 6. We just didn't expect the #Canucks to get 8.

Best road game of the season? Yes. Also best game of the season. If you're not a coach or a goalie.
I have been using all caps WAY more than I have in any other game this season. It's Game 74, fer cryin' out loud!

Douglas had the most shots on goal of any Canuck. He's trying for his 1st. Coming soon to a short goalie not near you.
