After taking a day off to watch the Jets lose, NM is back to inform you that the Canucks are still not in the NHL Playoffs. Fuckers. Edmonton has the opportunity to get back to the Western Final tonight and the Leafs look to find a way to win again after 2 losses in the sun of Florida.
The Canucks made a decision today.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the team has hired Adam Foote as the 22nd Head Coach in franchise history. pic.twitter.com/dJTDh8XoHb

I am not a fan of this decision. First off, he was brought in by Tocchet and may be stuck in the "system works" philosophy. Secondly, the optics of Foote coaching an NHL team, while his son is in court, just strikes me as another tone deaf choice by Aquilini and management.
Kent - I suppose we should have seen this coming. I mean, is there any other franchise that does lateral movement like the Canucks? Imagine watching this team last season and thinking to yourself "You know what, we may have had the main guy that was responsible leave us, so why don't we just promote one and that will definitely give us a better result?" Oh, and I agree 100% with Westy on his second point. Again, not at all surprising that this team would find a way to look worse. Calling it now: playoffs next year will be an absolute shock for this team, and start working on your Goodbye, Quinn letters.
jimmi - Dang it! I was hoping the Nucks brain trust - the smooth brain trust? Anyhow was hoping they might revert to the noughties and just let the players coach themselves - country club style - the envy of NHLPA members everywhere. Instead they hire (promote?) Doctor Defense to take the league's 3rd best PK and push all it way up to #1 in the league! Ambitious plan. We'll see how many 0-0 games the Nucks can win in the SO next season. And more importantly, our beleaguered billionaire owner saves a few million on salaries with this 'tone-deaf' hiring that Westy was singing about - in his thrash metal voice of doom.
LAST NIGHT'S ACTION
DALLAS STARS 3 WINNIPEG JETS 1 (Stars lead series 3-1)
A sea of Granlunds, Dallas is not. But one Granlund was enough to push the Jets to the brink of elimination as her scored all three Dallas goals. The Jets look slow against this juggernaut of a Stars team.
Maybe the Canucks might want to change country allegiances away from Sweden....

GAME DAY BATTLE HYMN
So, Westy had started putting this together, but got called away, leaving me to tie up the loose ends. You're welcome. So instead of some horrifying John Tesh song, here's CLUTCH with their breakthrough hit "A Shogun Named Marcus" from the "Transnational Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes and Undeniable Truths" album on Earache Records.
Enjoy the game, fuck fascism!
