DRAGON SLAYED. 1ST COMEBACK WIN THIS SEASON!
Before this game, Nucks record when trailing after 2 was 0-19-4. After this game. the comeback Nucks are swaggering a 1-19-4 record. Impressive. Especially impressive to bust the drought on the 2nd of a B2B.
A win is a win in a MUST WIN game. Even if you give a point to that dang team you're chasing on the slippy slope to seedy town.
Big return for our big D, Huggie. Quinn looked pretty sharp for his 1st game game after his extended cruise with BC Faeries. Played 29 minutes. No worries, once he gets his legs again, he'll be back to skating 50 plus.
Nucks almost let this one slip away, but came back to surprise not only Cowtown, but Nucks fans too.
1ST
Believe it or not, Nucks get the 1st goal of the game mid-period. From Suter. He's a shooter. Shot twice to get the goal.

Nucks have the inviolate one goal lead in the 1st and by rights of all things NM and rummy, game should be called right there.
Not just because Zary delivered an intentional elbow to D-Petey's head and only got 2 minutes for head hunting. But because it's a big timesaver.
The uncontested victory lasted at least 4 minutes. Then that Kadri kid receives a stretch pass that made it past 4 Canucks while making our freshly extended contract Pettersson look bad.
Fuck, kadri making our d look bad.

2ND
Nucks get an early PP mid-period.
With Huggie back quarterbacking the PP, good things happen. Jake tips Huggie's shot and Nucks are back on top.
Wooo Debrusk on the PP! Dirty ass flames all going after hughes, someone needs to go out there and explode kadri.

Couple minutes later Nucks are back on the PP. Huggie shoots the puck into the O-zone and doesn't go far enough into it. Instead it gets stretch-passed to Cowpoking PKers who break in 2-on-1 on Lanky to score.
All back to evens. Again.
But then things take a turn for worse. The Nucks PK can't kill a vital one and they're behind 3-2 as period winds down. [cue tunes of doom]
...and then give up a pp goal. buhbye playoffs.

The statsmatician brothers and sisters grim are counting how many times the Nucks have comeback after 2 when playing from behind. The calculation is too easy. The answer too depressing. It's 0.

3RD
You might think I'm making it up. Not only do the Nucks comeback to tie it up, the Nucks, the tired team having gutted out a losing effort at home last night, Nucks have more energy, more intensity and more shots than the refreshed home team. Outshoot the homers and their homer refs 17-4.
The homer refs let tripping and holding infractions against the home team slide as they tried to hold the lead.
Doesn't matter. Nucks are buzzing. Hoagie is buzzing. Petey is buzzing. And Mancini puts a quick shot on net, rebounds to Petey who whips it into the net.

Nucks sucked less. Dominated most of OT - rarely giving up possession. Put 2 shots on Wolfy where Lanky faced none.
SKILLZ
In the Skillz section of the program, the burnt Flammables got a single puck past Lanky - Nucks put 2 past Wolfy. Petey scored and Gnarly won the game 4-3! Wooooo!
OBSERVATIONS
EP40. Definitely his best game since his Opra confession presser. Fully engaged and determined to lead. Got an apple on the PP, scored the tying goal and beat Wolfman in the SO.
I'm kinda close to saying Pettersson is back, you guys.
Thursday
Hoagie was buzzing and put 6 shot on goal. More than any other Canuck
Chytil has looking dangerous and his O-zone work led to Suter's opening goal.
Nucks played with 5D after D-Petey was knocked out of the game early in the 1st. All 5 played really well. Shout out to Mancini who took the extra ice time and looked better each shift.
No word yet on D-Petey's status after that dirty elbow to the head from Zary. Who deserves a 5 to 50 game suspension.
Nucks worked hard, like last game - but finally broke through the goose eggshell ceiling. That last team in the league to not comeback to win - that albatross egg is off their shoulders.
It's only one win. Despite the win and tie on points with the Flamings, they're still outside the last seed pod. But still... much better position than if they'd let this game slip away like they have 23 other times this season when trailing after 2.
The sky is clearing some space for rainbows... possibly puppies and kittens too.

MUST WIN WON. They're still in it. The 4 way dogfight to be the team that gets bounced by Winterpeg. That's a lot to play for.
Nucks get to rest up for another MUST WIN vs the little Fawkers on Saturday in the ROG. Take nothing for granted now. Every game will be tough from now on.
